Music Recording sheffield -UK

I Know this is a very long shot but has anyone any ideas about organisations in the Sheffield area who might take a fifteen year old for two weeks work experience in September. She's interested in sound recording but more than willing to branch out into other media technology. Bright girl (gets it from her mother), reasonably talented musician ( don't know where that comes from) and very very enthusiastic. Not willing to catch more than two buses in the morning but could be prevailed upon. Sorry to launch such a self centred , localised thread - but you know what is like. Thanks

Julie

Julie, Don't apologize, someday some other of us may need equal consideration, and I hope we get it. Can't help you, as I live on another continent, but I like to hear how others live.

Peace, and good luck. Mooh.

I'm in Sheffield, and will ask around.  What other areas might she be interested in beside sound recording?

She could be interested in Radio, or other technical stuff related video. She really justs wants something that is fairly technical and there is an end product such as music , radio, television, video or even theatre and where she wouldn't have to make the tea too often. we've thought about the Red Tape Studios, I think there is some sort of Media Science course at Hallam University and there is a music studio at Sheffield University and hence they must have technicians. We know people such a Robin Garside who are branching into this area but usually their work varies so much that they might not be doing that bit at that time.

Can't contibute to the question but assuming it is like it was a few years ago, get to Fagins!

(who wishes he could play like some of the musicians there did)

Red Tape is certainly worth getting in touch with; I know several people who have done courses there, though whether or not they offer work experience I don't know.  It's almost impossible not to know Robin, isn't it!  That's one person I won't have to ask for ideas, anyway, then.  If I manage to come up with anything constructive, I'll send you a personal message.
