05 May 00 - 09:15 PM (#223809) Subject: RE: Looking for THE ORPHAN TRAIN songs/info From: kendall What a coinkidink..my local paper ran an article on the Orpahn Train last week. It was written by Robert Weller of the A.P. they gave a web site, Orphan Train Heritage Society: http://pda.republic.net/othsa Adoption search info http://www.cyndislist.com/adoption.htm I've been learning Utah Phillips song, Orphan Train, and suddenly, there is the article! I saved it if you want it. |

05 May 00 - 09:59 PM (#223835) Subject: RE: Looking for THE ORPHAN TRAIN songs/info From: Grandma Marshall I too had a short article in my local paper, which I have lost, and I would certainly like you to send me a copy by e-mail (.jpg or .txt). I seem to remember that it had a picture of a lady who was on a train and it said that there was going to be a reunion this year somewhere. I'll visit that web site too! AND MY THANKS TO YO ALL! |
05 May 00 - 10:02 PM (#223841) Subject: RE: Looking for THE ORPHAN TRAIN songs/info From: Grandma Marshall I almost forgot Kendall. Can you make that song into either an audio or a midi file so I can hear the tune? I sequence music but I need a base to start from - being an ear player, I have to get it into my head first! Here's my midi web site to stop by and EVERYONE send me an e-mail and SAY HELLO! http://www.geocitier.com/ohioweaver.geo |
05 May 00 - 10:15 PM (#223849) Subject: RE: Looking for THE ORPHAN TRAIN songs/info From: Grandma Marshall http://pda.republic.net/othsa/ This is the official site and it is also an unfolding story in American History. I urge all to learn about THE ORPHAN TRAIN. And thanks to you all who responded. Diane |
05 May 00 - 10:48 PM (#223857) Subject: RE: Looking for THE ORPHAN TRAIN songs/info From: catspaw49 Dear Dianne, I hate to seem pedantic here, but in previous discussions, there are at least 3 or 4 songs titled "Orphan Train" and they are in the threads that I suggested that you go back and check. There is a sound clip link to one of them and another that Gene listed, you can hear the entire song--different, but equally compelling in telling the tale. I know you're new here and I'm very glad to have you on board the Mudcat. It takes awhile to see just how much is available on this site, not only in the Digitrad Database, but also from past discussions in this forum as well. Try entering "Orphan Train" in the Forum Super Search and you'll find a LOT more info and several different versions and sound clips too. BTW, if you're using PC Windows based stuff, find one of the threads labeled "HearMe" and join us for a sing around. Every Sunday night at 7:30 (EDT) there is always one going on and many other nights as well. Although "Orphan Train" isn't there yet, there is a basic tune midi for a lot of songs in the pull down menu of the "Quick Links" above. Spaw |
