Lyr Req: Tiny Island (from Leo Kottke)

Yip - that's right, a SONG sung by Leo K. Despite remembering the melody, only a few dislocated words (and probably incorrect) come back to me.

" I wish I was a tiny island Floating in the sea Palm trees sway Dont get in the way It's a tropical ease....

Just endless waves at the end of our days The sighing of the sea

Please guide me towards - name/words/chords (3's enough - joke) album (etc!). Thanks in anticipation Regards Ana

The song is called "Tiny Island," and I'm pretty sure it's on his album "Greenhouse" (if not that it's on "Mudlark" -- they're both from the early/mid 1970's, when he was on Capitol records). As I recall the liner notes from the album pointed out that he made a mistake on the recording; instead of singing the last half of the third verse as written, he repeated the last half of the first verse again. Good song; good luck.

Ana- I just found a cool Kottke site with the lyrics to "Tiny Island" and a bunch of other great stuff. I bookmarked it, that's for sure. http://guitarmusic.org/kottke/gsongs.html

I'm wondering if I ever mentioned within a thread somewhere that I'm fairly certain that Leo's sibling, Francis, wrote the "Star Spangled Banner" !?!?!?!?!?

Very clever, Art -- I didn't know what you were getting at until I said the full name over in my head.

Francis Scott Key wrote the words to "Star Spangled Banner".
