16 May 00 - 12:00 PM (#228800) Subject: RE: New fiddler 4 NYC Celtic Band needed From: Peg Hi Larry; best of luck with your new band configuration! Did you ever find that female singer you were seeking??? I have not seen Bram in years; he and his band (Shaman) used to come to pagan gatherings a lot but the last time I saw him was about four years ago I think...their band was great, that is just the style of band I would love to be in... peg |

16 May 00 - 09:55 PM (#229118) Subject: RE: New fiddler 4 NYC Celtic Band needed From: Rick Fielding Larry I sympathise. I'm losing Jaimie Snider, my wonderful Maritime/celtoid fiddler to the town of Picton Ontario in another month, and I'm freaking! He knows the tunes, He enjoys people, he's a dream to work with, and he laughs at my jokes. I've got one possibility but the person in question thinks I'm a looney-left bleeding heart ultra liberal...God knows, he'd think you were Marx himself! I may be making jokes about this, but you know how difficult it is to find compatible QUALITY musicians. Good luck. Rick |

17 May 00 - 07:59 AM (#229251) Subject: RE: New fiddler 4 NYC Celtic Band needed From: InOBU Gee Rick! I feel terrible for you, Picton Ontario! Picton! Why would anyone want to live in Picton, when they could live in New York Jamie, I mean Rick... :-) Actually Rick, I think we Otways tend to be left of Karl Marx, and in one case quiet litterally. The very next grave over, facing, to the left, where Marx is burried, is Let. Gen. Loftus Otway, (of Castle Otway Tipperary) who it is noted was beloved by all, and that inspite of being to the left of Marx! (How did you do it Loftus, old dad?) Well good luck in your search Rick. Funny that it is so hard, eh? Sorcha! It is a bit of a long communte, and everyone would think the band is named after you! What would that do to my huge ego? ;-) Larry |

17 May 00 - 11:40 AM (#229343) Subject: RE: New fiddler 4 NYC Celtic Band needed From: Rick Fielding Ha Ha! A mutual friend of Jaimie's remarked that by moving to the tiny country town of Picton (near Kingston Ontario) Jaimie will be BIG NEWS and will get 3 times as many gigs...at one third the pay! It's a lovely area though, and puts him close to the border, so look out Watertown New York! Rick |

17 May 00 - 12:16 PM (#229354) Subject: RE: New fiddler 4 NYC Celtic Band needed From: Peg I know Kingston, it is not far from where my family used to vacation at my dad's boss' vacation home, when I was a kid...(Devil's Lake, in that lovely system of lakes in Ontario). We used to drive through Watertown, too (we called it "H2O City" on the CB radio--remember those?) I once spent a fun road trip weekend there in college--a friend and I drove to the cabin but my dad's boss was there so we couldn't sneak in..so we slept in the car and went to Kingston to hang out; all the hip students were wearing gas station coveralls as I recall, this was around 1985...and we went to a nice museum, too...and somewhere nearby there is a bakery that madeincredible portugeues bread. We stopped and got my dad a loaf of it and he flipped when I brought it to him, he hadn't had it in years... |
