Finding out the history of songs, and when they got collected and who may have written them and how they may have changed over the yeqrs is one thing, and a bvery good thing too.
But "looking for documentation" as to when songs "first appeared in folksong rep". That sounds different.
If I'm being unduly suspicious, forgive my paranoia. |

From: Malcolm Douglas If you go to the "Digitrad and Forum Search" box on the main Forum page and type in (one at a time!) the titles you're interested in, you will certainly find a lot of previous discussions on these songs, some of which may answer your questions -insofar as it is ever possible to be sure of such matters... From: MMario okay - Molly Malone appeared at least as early as 1884 attributed to James Yorkston, and there is evidence that Whiskey in the Jar was extant before 1860 (because an australian parody has been found that is traced to that time) |
