BS: New Mexican Catters?

I am planning a quick motorcycle trip to New Mexico, leaving Friday Morning June 2, returning Sunday June 4. I was wondering if there are any Mudcatters in NM who might have recommendations for place to go for a short trip.

There used to be a 'catter or two from NM but I haven't seen them around for a while. Meanwhile, there is Ruidoso where the "Folk of the Woods" store is - they are always selling banjos, dulcimers, etc. on eBay. Ruidoso is beautiful country too.

Ruidoso would be a long ride, way down there, but Rog sure did enjoy his stay there a few years ago, lots to see and do. There are some interesting places down near Grants, LeeJ, south of Durango, past the 4 Corners area whihc is pretty interesting itself. Acama is down there (one of the oldest continuously lived in high top mesa native American villages), plus there is an incredibly beautiful watering hole out there with petroglyphs, can't remember teh name of. Hell, have you heard from Wyo Woman, yet? She used to live down there, should be able able to point you in the right direction! She has had trouble with US *Worst*...phone calls have not been getting through and she's had trouble geting online. Have fun, wear a helmet!**BG**

I used to live in Las Vegas, NM, and then in Santa Rosa. How far south are you going? There is a neat sink hole in Santa Rosa called Blue Hole, and some petroglyphs at a lake also near Santa Rosa. The Catholic Church there used to have a beautiful hand carved door.

Thanks Kat and Sorcha. I haven't decided whether to angle east toward Las Vegas, Fort Sumner area, or west toward Santa Fe, Taos. I am in the mood for some desert riding, so East toward the Llano Estacado sounds good right now.

Sorcha! My mother lives in Las Vegas! Unfortunately for Leej, she's in Sicily right now (and then London), so I can't seek her out for places-to-go recommendations. I do hope to convince her to be come a 'Catter one of these days, as I inherited the Folk Music Gene from her.

LEJ- If you're passing through Trinidad and need a rest stop, give a yell. I'd love to meet you. BlueJay
