Is there anybody out there who knows the words of a song called "shamrock shore"? And by that I don't mean"Paddy's green shamrock shore"... It is a sean nos song, done by Paul Brady on his album with Tommy Peoples and Matt Molloy. It starts (if I'm not wrong) with: " OH BRAVE YOUNG MEN OF EIRINNS ISLE I HOPE YOU WILL ATTEND A WHILE..." Who can help? Greetings,Rob

Hey Rob! This is a great song...Karan Casey also does a good version of it, and I sing it a lot myself. Click here for the lyrics...this is where I got them from. The words are identical to the Karan Casey version, I'm not sure about the Paul Brady one. But, anyway, I hope this works for you! Enjoy!

Mbo and Rob: Also check out Faulkner and Keane's "A Farewell to Eirinn." It has a great version of Paddy's Green Shamrock Shore and several other fine tunes. Reguards, Neil

The version Karan Casey does is on her solo album "Songlines": a lot of great songs on here. She is truly one of the great song stylists of the century in my opinion...

Karan was in Boston recently at the Somerville Theatre with her new band: Niall Vallelly and (I am assuming) guitar player Donal Clancy. I saw them at the Burren (front row seat for ten bucks! woo-hoo! but it grew crowded quickly...) last winter when Karan was a few months' pregnant and it was fantastic; having waited too long to get good tix i opted not to go to the recent performance (it was also twice the price) but I am sure it was great!

I kept running into Karan in the Ladies' Room at the Burren that night (I was drinking Guinness on top of lots of coffee that day, she was pregnant, thus we both had to pee a lot) and we spoke each time; she is very down-to-earth and wonderful...
