Lyr Req: Would You Lay with Me (David Allan Coe)

I am trying to locate the words to two old songs. One is Field of Stone and begins with Would you Lay With me in a field of stone.....

The Other is a song that I thought was called Here Today and Gone Tomorrow, but it is not the same song as is already in the Mudcat Data Base. The first line is Here Taday and Gone tomorrow, your love will always be a heading round the back. You say you love me but you're just a wanderer.....

If anyone knows the lyrics to the full song of either or both, I would really appreciate getting my hands on them.

Cheers,

Berna-Dean

I had looked in Mudcat for this song but the link is gone. So here's it (copied from another webpage). The song is on the Christy Moore box set on ther Red CD.

WOULD YOU LAY WITH ME (IN A FIELD OF STONE)
(David Allan Coe)

Would you lay with me
In a field of stone
If my needs were strong
Would you lay with me?

Should my lips grow dry
Would you wet them, dear?
In the midnight hour
If my lips were dry?

Would you go away to another land
And walk a thousand miles
Through the burning sand?
Wipe the blood away from my dying hand?

If I give my love to you
Will you bathe with me in the stream of life
When the moon is full
Will you bathe with me?

Will you love me
When I am down and out
In my time of trials
Will you stand by me?

Would you go away to another land
And walk a thousand miles
Through the burning sand?
Wipe the blood away from my dying hand?

If I give my love to you
Will you bathe with me in the stream of life
When the moon is full
Will you bathe with me?...

HERE TODAY AND GONE TOMORROW
Hazel Dickens

Here today and gone tomorrow,
Our love will always be a hit-and-run affair.
I know you love me, but you're just a wanderer.
Today I love you but tomorrow I may not care.

For absence never makes the heart grow fonder.
I get lonesome for someone's company.
Here today and gone tomorrow,
And my loving you is just a fantasy.

When you're gone, I'll wish we'd never met,
For your memory remains within my heart.
Here today and gone tomorrow,
We can't be happy, so I guess it's best we part.

HERE TODAY AND GONE TOMORROW, which Gene posted above, is sometimes attributed to Jim Ed Brown and Maxine Brown (members of The Browns), and sometimes to Wally Fowler. It has been recorded by The Browns, Hazel Dickens, John Duffey, Chris Hillman, The Laurel Canyon Ramblers, The Louvin Brothers, The Osborne Brothers, and The Stanley Brothers. It was previously posted in the thread Lyr Add: Songs of the Louvin Brothers.
