Help: Looking for Song Artist

Good Morning, I recently heard a song being performed; however, for the life of me cannot remember who wrote/performed it. The words of the song that I remember I will use with the associated chord, otherwise I will use doo, doo, etc... with the associated chord. (This song is not "rain, rain, go away come back another day".) Play along, if you know the song it may jog your memory! Thank you very much for your time. (verse)

C Rain, rain, doo doo rain, F doo doo doo G doo doo doo C doo doo doo

(chorus) Am F G dah dah dah you're so dog-gone pretty

(There are also words to the effect "that if the telephone rings we'll just let it)

Joe

I think the words are: "Ring, ring, telephone ring; If somebody calls, let the telephone ring." I can't for the life of me remember who did it, but I think it was sometime in the early 70s. If I remember more, I'll let you know.

Remember the song but can't place the artist. I was thinking late sixties say '68 or '69 but it may have been '70 or '71. If all else fails call your local oldies station. You don't say where in Ohio but I seem to remember it from the time I lived in Aurora, Ohio (Not far from Kent) which places it 1969-71 although it may be a wee bit earlier. Reguards, Neil

I checked with a friend and we both think that the song is called, "Ring, Ring." No idea who or when, but I think you're in the ballpark, Neil.

I believe that the tune "Ring, Ring" was recorded in the 70s by a schlock pop group called Lobo, but this was not the original. Don't know who was. In one verse, the singer says "Come on in, I got James Taylor on the stereo." Apparently a rockier version later changed it to "I got the Allman Brothers on the stereo." Apparently either of these were intended to entice the listener to "come on in." Less successful version perhaps substituted Julio Iglesias or Yoko Ono, with disappointing results.

Found it!

RINGS
written by Alex Harvey / Eddie Reeves

Ring ring telephone rings
Somebody says baby what you doin'
I've been wonderin' where you've been
Now and then I think about you and me

There's no use fighting about things
We can't recall
Cos it don't matter girl at all

Just come on home
And baby we'll laugh and sing
And we'll make love
And let the telephone ring

Ring ring door bell ring
Baby come on in
I got the Allman Brothers on the stereo

I'm glad you came around
I've been feeling down
Talking to Tony and Mario

You know they make good conversation
But girl that ain't no consolation
Cos I got love and baby I'll give you some
And if somebody comes we'll let the door bell ring

Ring ring golden ring
Around the sun around your pretty finger
Ring ring voices ring
With a happy tune anybody can be a singer

The sun comes up across the city
I swear you never looked so
Dog gone pretty

Hand in hand
We'll stand upon the sand
With the preacher man
And let the wedding bell ring

Another triumph for the Mudcat team!!

I can dig the lyrics and it very well may have been by Lobo However the original was done by a group called Cimmeron. I believ the original singer mentioned in the lyrics was James Taylor but It may be someone else. Other than that the lyrics are correct.. Team Mudcat and my wife Peggy to the rescue. Neil
