BS: Fame At Last Part The 2nd

So, my good buddy Heath calles me yesterday... he's the publican who owns The Kildare House... The #1 pub in Windsor... and my home away from home...

Today (in a couple of hours as a matter of fact) they are filming the TV comercial for the House and he's needing folks to come in and sorta fill out the scene... I told him I'd be more than happy to be seen #1 infront of the Guinness tap... the bar stool already has my butt crease in it!! LOL!! He says no... he was just calling to ask if I would call my chums to come down... My heart sank.. I've been banned from the shoot! Besdides, he says... you'll be too busy playing yer guitar for the folks to be sat at the bar!

So, last month the paper, now I'm gonna be in a commercial!!

If I can swing it, I'm gonna post an MPG, or AVI of the commercial as soon as I can on my web page...

How cool is that eh?!?!?!

I must be living right or something!! Spleen and all...

TV commercials for pubs? We don't have any of those. Nearest we had to that was when two pub regulars featured in a hilarious documentary about cowboy builders.

"Cowboy builders" may mean something different in America. Here is means they charge the earth and haven't a clue what they are doing, and can't be traced when it all comes to pieces. A bit offensive to cowboys I suppose. (When the poor old Duke of Edinburgh tried a variation on the expression, and said that a bit of electrical wiring "looked as if it had been put in by Indians", he caught hell.)

Anyway, the next night after it was broadcast someone brought in a video-recording of the pair doing some terrible workmanship, putting up a vastly overpriced garden fence, without realising they were being filmed. The whole pub fell about laughing all evening, and they haven't been seen in the pub since. Which is a pity, since one of them is a hell of a good singer.

I got it Clinton! here's the scam.

Call up the newspaper and tell 'em that since that photo, you're wracked with guilt about being a smoker in an "angry non-smokers world." Tell 'em yer gonna give up the weed, and they can serialize your struggle. Go meet with the most agressive anti-smoking lobby in town and tell 'em you need their help. (make sure the news-photographer is there) Call the local talk shows...get on TV. Tell 'em "Irish music made me do it!" Better yet, tell 'em ya never puffed until you saw Michael Flately!

If all else fails....set yourself on fire outside city hall.

You'll make it, guy!

Rick

how about the maille being in the mail.

For those out there who don't know, Clinton does some really good chainmaille. Mostly bracelets and such.

You can see his work on his website, under the 'for the everyday viking' section.

Once again, his website is Sword4Hire

Thanks Steve, unfortunately none of Clinton's downloads work on my computer anymore. Perhaps he changed something on his webpage, all used to be accessible on my machine, but now all I can get when I click on something, are a bunch of weird symbols instead of music and such.

Its an mpeg video..... if you right click on the link for the commercial, and click 'save target as' you should be able to download the file into your computer, and then load up windows media player and play it through that...

Hope it helps

It came right up on my RealPlayer, Steve.

HeyaClinton, pretty kewl! I am guessing that was YOU doing the "traditional Celtic folk!" Nice rendition of Wild Mtn. Thyme by your friend and you, too.

Thanks, Steve, for letting us know. It's a lot of fun to see!

Clinton, have you looked at the Mixonic link that Amos has in the latest Mudcat CD thread? You can send them your mp3's, design your own album cover and order as little as one CD for a couple of bucks. Looks like a nifty way to get one out with little outlay.

Good luck!

Looks like Mixonic is an America only company...

At least after the cursory glance I just gave it...

Neat idea though...

Banjer - The Kildare House is on the corner of Wyandotte street and Kildare rd.

That would be in

huh? what da hell happened there? My html code stopped everything

Anyways, what I was trying to say banjer, is that the Kildare House is on the corner of Wyandotte St. and Kildare Ave. That's in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Right across the river from Detroit, Michigan.

Kat, you're right, Clinton said 'live Celtic folk' and also said the final 'The Kildare house'.

Kat - yes it was him playing.

Planning a party, although odds are it would be cold.... perhaps next february, cause I just checked Grit Laskin's booking page and it shows that he and Mr. Fielding will be playing the Windsor Folk Society at McKensie Hall the 8th.
