From: Stefan Wirz Just discovered that there's a song called 'Jack Elliot' on the self titled John Herald LP (Paramount PAS 6043 ) and added it to the Jack Elliott discography I started a few days ago: http://www.wirz.de/music/elliodsc.htm Now I'm wondering if there are ANY other artists having dedicated any of their songs to RJE - any hints are appretiated !!! |

A double CD with all the tracks on what you have listed as DLP 1975 was issued in 1996 by Gold Sound label: Jack Elliot & Derrol Adams [note wrong spellings] 'Selection of America' Gold Sound DCD-768-1/DCD-768-2. More tracks than on the 1998 A World of Music CD that you list. Unfortunately, there is no information at all. I got my set through Bugsy. It gives 1955 for 'Talking Miner'/'Pretty BF' and 1957 with (?) for 'Streets of Laredo'/'Boll W' and also for 'Old Blue'/'Rambling Blues'. I couldn't see 'So Long' there. --Stewie. |

In addition to "Ramblin' Jack and Mahan," that's already been mentioned, Guy Clark's "Cold Dog Soup" also mentions Jack. It's the title song of Guy's latest Sugar Hill album. Christine Lavin has a song called "Ramblin' Waltz" on her "Future Fossils" album on Philo. It doesn't specifically name Jack, but it's obviously about him. MIke Regenstreif |

In the intro on the big old black CD, Kris mentions a whole handful of people whom he had in mind, ending with "Rambling Jack Elliot had a lot to do with it". |
