A friend at work without a computer has asked me to find out any info on a song he heard in the film Highlander.
He thinks the artist is Loreena Mac Kenneth,a Canadian singer?
I have tried a web search and also a forum search without success, can anyone out there help.

Need a bit more information. I suspect you are referring to is Loreena McKennit.

I am sorry but I don't know what song you mean. Does your friend know the name of it? Perhaps the title of the episode might reveal in the listing of the episode what the title is. Thanks.

You said "the film Highlander". I know that Queen did the soundtrack for the movie...didn't know Loreena did anything on it, or was around back then...I'll look..

Wild, the song is "Bonny Portmore" and is by Loreena McKennitt from the motion picture soundrack to "Highlander III". You can hear a sound file of it here. Here's the lyrics & some 'fo.

Bonny Portmore
Words and music traditional; arranged and adapted by
Loreena McKennitt
From the recording "The Visit "

O bonny Portmore, you shine where you stand
And the more I think on you the more I think long
If I had you now as I had once before
All the lords in Old England would not purchase Portmore.

O bonny Portmore, I am sorry to see
Such a woeful destruction of your ornament tree
For it stood on your shore for many's the long day
Till the long boats from Antrim came to float it away.

O bonny Portmore, you shine where you stand
And the more I think on you the more I think long
If I had you now as I had once before
All the Lords in Old England would not purchase Portmore.

All the birds in the forest they bitterly weep
Saying, "Where will we shelter or where will we sleep?"
For the Oak and the Ash, they are all cutten down
And the walls of bonny Portmore are all down to the ground.

O bonny Portmore, you shine where you stand
And the more I think on you the more I think long
If I had you now as I had once before
All the Lords of Old England would not purchase Portmore.

For the original 18th century version of the song, and the Irish and Scots tunes for it, see "Bonny Portmore' in the Scarce Songs 1 file on my website. www.erols.com/olsonw

Wildlone, now that you know the name is "Bonny Portmore," put that in SuperSearch and you'll find lots of good stuff.

As a note for the interested, if you're looking for the Queen songs from the first movie, they're the "Side II" for Queen's "Kind of Magic" CD.
