We plan to attend the Cleckheaton festival. Would love to contact any Mudcatters there. How should we go about it? Does anyone have any tips about the festival- Best Venues, events , times etc? Jack The Lad , who will be with Judy The Lass

Ask around for Travelling Charles Fyson. He doesn;t really do this hi-tech stuff but he liked Clecky so much he moved there.

Watch out for a lutherer called Dave, hairy, smokes a pipe and has a wooden tankard. He's a looney.....

There are some people known to this forum who believe that Cleckheaton does not exist, but just pops up for the festival, sort of like Brigadoon. Interesting theory, is it really there when we aren't?

Just type in CLECKHEATON FOLK FESTIVAL in the search engine thingy/super search and you'll find a thread all about it. I live here and I will be there!! The Town hall is a brilliant place to start on the Friday and the Wickham a great place to end up late any night! There are so many good acts. upstairs in the George is good. The Cricket pavillion I never got to last year. See you soon Eric

I'm hoping to get there sometime during the weekend. Looking forward to it. What kind of accommodation is there if I decide to stay over? Bron.

I believe it exists- buses go there from Leeds- unless they disappear down a big hole- or carry off their travellers to be enslaved in the Pudsey treacle mines. Well, we'll see you there then. I'll be wearing a beard and round glasses- but then, who won't? Jack The Lad.

I'm sure there is a message board in the town hall ( festival base ) there are a number of pub's where catters could meet - the wickham being a good suggestion.

I'm all for that, but I won't win even in my mudcat Teshirt!!. There is camping and Bed and breakfast, quite a few people stay at the Wickham I believe. There is also a tourist office but I don't know the phone number yet. I'll get back to you.
