BS: Brain-Dead Republicans II

Orin "Halfwit" Hatch is at it again- lets spend several million taxpayer dollars and waste untold months of time in Congress to investigate Janet Reno & the Justice Department over the Elian Gonzales 'incident'. These Republicans just can't seem to fathom the depths of their venality & hypocrisy.

Oh now give them some credit...they just defeated the bill which would allow managed care patients to sue providers. Think of the money they will save insurance companies and Doctors!!

Governor Lamb spoke to old folks in Colorado little darling,
Did you hear what the Governor had to say?
If your're growing too old in Colorado little darling
You should die and get out of the way....Tom Paxton

lol, Doug.

I remember years ago I was working at an orchard and our nasty old prick of a foreman was bitching about the radio news over lunch - it seems a civil rights demonstration was being talked about, and it annoyed him, especially after he'd just heard about an anti-war demonstration only moments before, "Hippies and niggers," he said, "they'll be the ruination of this country!" - and my friend Billy answered back, "I hope you're right!"

I still get a chuckle out of that, to this day. I know Billy didn't hope this country would be ruined, but one in which our nasty assed boss could speak like that so freely did in-deed pass, thank God.

Iknow this this thread has a different twist, and this is a bit of thread creep ... but Doug's comment reminded of the story.

The Republickins and the Demoncrats got deevorced a long time ago and have been fightin' over the property settlement and visitation rights ever since. The judge (us voters) give one house to each of them. The Rebufflickins, who despise the homeless and want them to disappear because they are nasty to look at, are lazy and smell bad want to make Bill (and Al) homeless so they will disappear too. The democats, who love the homeless want to throw the Rebullicans out of their house so that they will be homeless too and can finally be loved. Meanwhile the Senate deliberates. If anything goes awry it is deliberate. The only thing the current crop of Republicads have against Islamic republics like Iran and Afghanistan is that they didn't think of it first. Meanwhile the political advisers devise new and better lies to try on the fools who believe that there is some point to it all and that things can get better, whatever that is, and for whom? Meanwhile, weary of the debate and jaded by the constant string af scandals stretching from yesterday back through to antiquity fewer care and fewer vote. Once we all give up then the pols will have accomplished what they sought to attain - the dictatorship of apathy. The Rebufflicrats and the Democraplicans are not the brain dead. 'Tis us, I fear. Or not.

If Orin Hatch ever removed the collar from his shirt ,his head would fall off his shoulders and the world would definately survive and probably progress.

Amergin, I was going to say that I wouldn't argue with anyone who said the Republicans (the upper level ones, anyway) are brain dead, unless they were implying that that meant that the Democrats were brain-alive - but you beat me to it.

I am convinced that we need to dump the two-party system for this country to survive in the long term. Unfortunately, no one in a high position wants my opinion.

Peter.

What amazes me is that Republicans keep espousing causes that obviously appeal to only a tiny minority of either very rich or very authoritarian people -

The Republican Senator from Minnesota, Rod Grams, wants to change the date of Memorial Day so that it doesn't fall on Friday or Monday. He thinks it's disgraceful that people are taking 3-day weekends and having a good time instead of being mournful and spending the day putting flowers on graves of dead soldiers and listening to patriotic speeches.

I am not making this up.

Kaleb, I'm curious to know when was the last time that happened to you, or someone you know? I hope it never happens to me because my poor little .38 special wont do me a damn bit of good.(nor would a bazooka, if there is a squad of them) I can quote the 4th amendment from memory, suppose that would help?

09 Jun 00 - 08:05 PM (#240604)
Subject: RE: BS: Brain-Dead Republicans II
From: DougR

Well, Jim, I won't comment on the Senator's wish to change the holday to a day other than Friday or Monday, but I do think he has a point regarding the way the day is observed. It should be a day when we honor those who made the supreme sacrifice so that we CAN enjoy more three day holidays, don't you think? That can as easily be done at the nearby lake or fishing stream or picnic spot, as in a church, or listening to political speeches I think. Where I come from, though, political speeches were reserved more for the Fourth of July.

One would think, reading ads in the newspapers that Memorial Day was established to sell more furniture and mattresses.

Just one more comment: the Republican Party doesn't have a franchise on politicians that are fuddy duddies. Both parties appear to me to have their fair share.

Since Henny is now dead he understands Republicans. I'm one of three Democrats in my town. Did anyone see "Chopper Chicks in Zombietown"? that's what it's like here. You put out a sign for Tom Foley (ex-House Speaker) a few years ago any little old ladies hand you packets of literature implicating everyone, democrat or republican (except for Dan Qualye who somehow has been excluded from the inner circle, wonder why?) in the ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT plot, and by the way did you know that a vote for Foley is a vote for Satan's World Government. This of course made me want to vote twice, just to see if that system might work better. I think two parties is not enough to represent the varieties of human opinion, besides there is not enough beer to go around. I say break out our stockpiles of banjoes, fiddles and guitars and start new fun parties everywhere!

Hi all: I haven't much use for politicians. The last truely decent one was Abraham Lincoln. About Memorial Day, I believe it should be celebrated however we want. Should people take time to honour our war dead, most certainly but it shouldn't be legislated fro two reasons A- legislating peoples ideas of holiday is autyhoritarian and dishonours our heroes, B- Look on the calender people, traditional memorial day fell on a tuesday this year, Senator, don't waste our money on a day that is already there! Doug R, I don't agree with all you say, but thank you for saying it,! This country and Mudcat should be about everyone having their say. One question though, If Elian had been an American child, how long would have the local constables waited? I don't believe they would have waited a month let alone the amount of time they did. And they still haven't allowed Elian's rightful guardian to take him home! This isn't about Cuba, this is about parental rights and all of our rights. The rights we deny Jose (sp) Gonzales today are the rights that we will lose tomorrow. Have a great night and stay dry, Neil
