For an upcoming Pete Seeger anthology, I need info on "The Road to Athy" (on "Rainbow Quest") and "Where the Old Allegheny and Monongahela Flow") ("Am. Ballads, 4"). Thanks

Is the Road to Athay the Irish equivalent of When Johnny Comes Marching Home? I have one about Going the road to sweet Athay, huroo, huroo, (repeat), a stick in me hand and a drop in me eye, A doleful damsel I heard cry Johnny I hardly knew ye... and, it's Allegheny, but other than the chorus I don't know that one.

The song's in the Digital Tradition as JOHNNY I HARDLY KNEW YE - to find a song, just enter a word you know is in it in the box at the top of the page, and see what turns up.

And Athy is a small town in Kildare

What do a pants leg and Kildare have in common?

They both have a thigh in them.

Sorry, read that in Portrait of an Artist as Young Man and had to repeat it here.
