Keep trying bet, sometimes it can take a few minutes - give it 5 minutes before deciding it wont let you in.

Any more people out there? It is very quiet tonight and we could use a few more singers.

If you have a PC (sorry no Mac support yet), IE4 or higher or Netscape equivilant, try clicking on the link (the blue bit Mbo posted at the start of this thread) and see what happens. With any luck, you will be asked to accept a download and it will install.

Try it and see what happens,

Jon

Sunday from 7:30pm EST till whenever is a pretty regular event but they can start anytime and somebody usually anounces they are there in these threads. You could even start one off if you wanted - the room is always open for the singing.

Give it 5 minutes and see what happens, it can take ages for it to start, especially when the plug in has to be downloaded.

One point, some Netscape users have had problems that hearme do not seem to be able to answer and have found it necessary to switch to IE to use Hearme. I am able to use either but there is a peculiar Netscape/Hearme problem that has affected some users.

I think the only new one I tried was Deportees as I felt that with the current thread going, somebody should at least give it a go.

There seems to be mixed feeling over the change I made to the Hearme page with the way the text chat box and the rest of it are now combined by default. The page can still be opened the old way (a seperate chat window) if the "embedded" option is unchecked on the entry page before joining the chat.

When I came we were only four--Midchuck, Jon, and two others whose names I forget. I think only Midchuck and I were singing. We limped along for must have been three quarters of an hour until suddenly the US Cavalry galloped over the hill and saved us from petering out totally.

I sang the following, if I recall:
Rambles of Spring
Talking Dust Bowl Blues (W.Guthrie)
The Greenhorn
The Frozen Logger, and
Mo Mary

I might have done one other, but can't remember for sure.

"...suddenly the US Cavalry galloped over the hill and saved us from petering out totally."

I've always hated that expression....

But we had fun, small group tho we were....

Trying to remember. I sang:

Fun Without Fools (Jez Lowe)
Suzanne, A Spoof (Harvey Reid, based on Leonard Cohen)
The True Ballad of Jesse James (Sherwood Ross)
Cowboy Pride (Ian Tyson)

I think that was it...

Peter.

Mbo, if we don't get the Frozen Logger to you tonight, you can ask me any other time you see me on HearMe. The same goes for almost any song I sing. There's A FEW that I need a cheat sheet, or maybe that I don't remember the chords without working it up, but most things I sing are constantly on tap.
