Looking for song most likely containing these phrases

When it's fiesta time in Guadalajara then I long to be back in Old Mexico Where we lived for today never (thinking?) about tomorrow

We would whisper te amo

the Mariachis would serenade And they would not go home til they were paid

and we got typhoid and beriberi

It's a tom Lehrer song, I *think* - which means you should be able to find the lyrics off this page here

Thank you MMario! These are exactly the words I was looking for. Now I'd like to know if it is contained in any publication with music and maybe guitar chords....?

Try the book, Too many songs, not enough pictures, contains quite a lot of them, but not all, by any means.... it hasn't got Vatican Rag in it. Or go to the other Tom Lehrer site that has made its way in.

The lyrics can be found there. The earlier link thirteen years back no longer works.

The proper name of the song is "In Old Mexico," by Tom Lehrer. It can be found in the Digital Tradition Folk Song Database.
