'Catters at the Clearwater?

This coming weekend, I'll be at the great and wonderful Clearwater Revival Festival, as I have been for so many of the past 14 years... listening to Pete Seeger, Dar Williams, Janis Ian, Jay Unger and Molly Mason, and dozens of other wonderful and talented musicians. Will any other Mudcatters be there, either performing or enjoying? It's in Croton Point Park, NY, south of Poughkeepsie, (the new (very old) site, which I haven't been to yet), but it's always been a blast, despite the camping, with excellent music and a good atmosphere. I'd love to meet anyone else there!

No, but think of me. Some of my best musical memories are from that Festival, and I regret that I'm too far away to go now...

Went there assisting my better half (Molly-O) who was in the crafts fair for a couple of years--what a great festival!

Pete AND Dar AND Janis Ian...same lineup as four years ago. I was really impressed with Janis Ian, a stunningly energetic performer and a great guitarist--not what I had expected from the "At Seventeen" woman.

Other thing that struck me--Two or three hundred people surrounding the backstage waiting for Ani DiFranco to come out after her show. I felt like saying, "Hey, this is a folk festival, lighten up folks. Let her walk around the grounds like a normal person." Ani-mania, its frankly a little scary. (They whisked her outta there on a golf cart)

But a great time. And I really like the solar stage trip--and that Pete Seeger is still playing there.

Well any one who wants to find us can stop by the Story stage (Where Wavestar grew up... when we were on the WCC campus there was a tree that she used to park herself in when she wasn't assisting her parents in their Stage Managerial duties. And actually many performers DO manage to be able to walk around like everyone else. Dar showed up about 45 min. before her set and commented that my chalk board was out of date, as I'd not had time to redo it since the morning. I handed her the eraser and the chalk, and when Jessica showed up from some errand she was on, I was able to introduce them. Of course no one had recognized Dar kneeling on the chalkboard, looking like any of the rest of us!

Pete will be on our stage as well this year. Check out their website! http://www.clearwater.org/festival.html

Folk-Legacy and Camsco will be sharing a booth in the craft area, featuring the best in traditional music on CD. Great chance to actually LOOK at the stuff we carry. See you there!

Sandy's too conservative. Great chance to actually BUY something. (We'll also have some Mudcat Tee-shirts for sale.)
