BS: comment on career in music

I've received a lenghty e-mail message from a performer friend which purports to be a speech attributed to Courtney Love on several aspects of what I would phrase "artist exploitation." I don't want to post it as a thread because I have not verified its authenticity. It could be truthful, or it could be another e-mail hoax. I don't know. Whichever it is, however, it makes interesting reading. If anybody would like to receive it, send me your e-dress and I will forward it to you directly.

Sounds like it could be interesting. Please pass it along. I'm in the book. Thanks.

There is a link to what I think must be the same article, in this recent thread.

Thanks,

Thanks Kat. You're right on target. Your link is the same thing. Thus, anyone interested can just go the the link in Kat's note above.

I read it. Whether it's authentic or not, it still makes for good reading. The author makes some salient points.

However, at times the tone of the article strikes me as 'sour grapes.' If Ms. Love is indeed the author, I would be more inclined to give credence to her statements if an obscenely rich artist of your choice were to second her conclusions.

It is a very pointed article ---- but being in Nashville, ya hears a lot of things, and I've heard some of those things before.

That great and wise old sage, Merle Haggard, said his career (paraphrasing) amounted to a thirty-five year bus ride.
