27 Jun 00 - 06:55 PM (#248138) Subject: RE: INGRID From: Margaret V I do know a song by Jane Siberry called "Ingrid and the Footman." It's wonderful! But I'd have to say it'd be a pretty big challenge to come up with an arrangement that would work if you are doing the solo acoustic guy with a guitar thing, as the original is in Jane's inimitable layered, early '80s, sort-of-pop-but-with-unconventional-structure style. It's on her album "The Walking" if you want to track it down. You can find the lyrics at her website www.sheeba.ca. Use the search option and type in the song title and select "The Walking" and then select the song. Good luck! Margaret |

27 Jun 00 - 10:57 PM (#248264) Subject: RE: INGRID From: John in Brisbane There's a beautiful tune Written by Greig as part of the Peer Gynt Suite known as Ingrid's Lament. It's in a Minor key in 3/4 and has the same sort of power as (say) The Godfather Theme. I am not aware that any lyrics exist, but it would be a good vehicle to write some. If you have a strong lead instrument it would make a damn fine instrumental.
Drop me a line at johninbrisbane@hotbot.com and I can send you a MIDI of the 32ish bars of the main theme. Greig's original chords are superb, but most are only little embellishments of common minor key chords. I can send you the full chords if you like the tune.
Regards, John |

28 Jun 00 - 10:01 AM (#248473) Subject: RE: INGRID From: Willie-O One of the Woody Guthrie lyrics Billy Bragg put to music a couple of years ago was about Ingrid Bergman. Pretty suggestive stuff too--about wantin to make a movie with her on some island and then get it on like a volcano...it's slightly more subtle than that but the intent is clear. Great song, maybe you should run it by the husband...maybe HE can sing it... Or maybe she's tired of hearing about Ingrid Bergman! Whatever.] Willie-O |
