Thanks John, for your reply! The lyrics I'm looking for are: "What would have happened if I'd stayed around", "Without me ,just with you", "East neuk misfortune", "Turn a deaf ear", "The 2nd Mariner's Song" Hope you can help, love, Herma

Herma, No problem with the first four, all from "Do you see the lights." Will be in touch with lyrics. Not so sure about "Mariner" though. Any more info?. Will double check albums in case it's one I've forgotten about. If all else fails can check it out with Robert (Rab) himself.
love, john.

Herma, will have to transcribe them and I won't be around my records for a few days. Once I've got them I'll get in touch via here.

John,

Thanks for your trouble so far! Second Mariner's song appears not to be a Rab Noakes song, but written by a P.Morgan. Do you know anything about him by chance?? Will wait for you to get in touch, there's no hurry !! Love, Herma

John,

Just to get back to my request: were you able to find any lyrics of the above mentioned songs? Have been out of touch for a while, due to the holidays etc. Will you let me know? Thanks, Love, Herma

Nina Siffriz who runs the Moira folk club was a Rab Noakes fan - I bet she can tell you anything you need to know.

Hi,

If I can I'm going to persuade my pal Ranald Smith to post a Youtube of his rendition.

Was I dreaming - in the early seventies I thought I loved a rab noakes song which had the lines " Cisco a long way from home when you can't affod to fly .. but it might as well be the moon when you're as cold as I" if I wasn't dreaming is the album still available... I've been singing this song for 30 years!!

It's "Frisco Depot" from the "Red Pump Special" album. It's not actually a Rab Noakes song, but written by Mickey Newbury.

Can anyone tell me where this is from? I heard Rab sing it in the early 70s
"and when you get home, all the good and the bad
and all of the hardships, some purpose will have had"
