Review Fielding Garrett StubbsTravellers

Last weekend I saw a wonderful concert at the Performing Arts Lodge
What a show! Rick Fielding, Bill Garrett with Sue Lothrop and Curly Boy Stubbs, Nancy White and The Travellers.
Rick started the show off with an instrumental tune on the guitar where he played the original tune, then played it again as it evolved through another artist (can't remember their names) and then how Rick adapted the tune to his own style. It was very interesting.
He played East Virginia on the autoharp accompanied by Curly Boy Stubbs on the guitar. And a Lead Belly song 'Kisses Sweeter Then Wine' on the 12th string guitar. Rick please correct me if I am wrong, I am doing the best I can here.
One thing I know for sure is Rick got everyone in the entire audience to sing along to several of his songs.
Nancy White is hysterical! She is best known for writing and singing satirical songs about current issues.
I have never seen The Travellers. Of course they played 'This Land Is Your Land' and it was a special treat to see one of them has the same Vega long neck banjo as I have.
What a treat this evening was.

The Performing Arts Lodges is an organization dedicated to provide affordable housing and health care to older members of Canada's performing arts and allied professions. Many of the members have worked for CBC.

Bonnie,

I didn't see the show you refer to, but I saw Rick and Curly Boy at Greenbank and again at Acoustic Harvest where they were accompanied by Grit Laskin. Both shows were terrific. These guys work so well together both musically and stage banter wise. Very enjoyable, entertaining evenings filled with wonderful music.

The song transition Bonnie was referring to was Nick Lucas's "Pickin' The Guitar" to Sam McGee's "Buckdancer's Choice" to Doc Watson's "Doc's Guitar" to my "Rag Eh?"

Since there is already a thread on Leadbelly's "Good Night Irene", I did a similar thing with his treatment of Sam Kennedy's Irish "cow" ballad and how it evolved (with Lee Hays' help) into "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine".

Well then Jed, maybe you and I should come up with a few tunes, hit Las Vegas and tour the circuit calling ourselves the Vega Longnecks.
