The problem is that the members in my band are not as Irish as I am and don't know the music as I do. Therefore, I had to teach them all the songs and I could not find many with sheet music and lyrics and quitar chords. Can anyone help us? Please? |

You don't say where you're from but if you are anywhere near a univerity you doubtless have a good music store around. Secondly Join Mudcat!! There is a wealth of information available here and people on both sides of the "Big Pond" who have a wealth of knowledge and the love of sharing to help. Third check out Aine's song book and maybe post a message to her. They don't come more Irish on this side of the Atlantic and don't forget to check out the digital tradition!! (Hey I found the lyrics to "Long, long Trail" after looking for years in under five minutes.) WHere are you located? If I can I'll try to help. Ken Perlman's Traditional Dance Tunes for Acoustic Guitar (Mel Bay), the Celtic Harp, Pocket Tin Whistle Tutor, Fiddler's Fake Book...There's a DADGAD book that's pretty good... Make these songs your own by not accepting printed arrangements as gospel, but as a starting point. Peace, and good luck, Mooh. |

For us to properly steer you in the right direction, could you please answer a few questions about the music your band is playing? Are you a céilí band, or are you also doing songs? If you're doing songs, are you singing in English or in Irish? Is your group an all-traditional band, or are you interested in more modern Irish songs (and would that be songs in English or Irish)?
