I have noticed that there are people here who speak Gaelic, the irish version of it. I really like this music, but there are some words that I hear that I have always wondered what they mean. Can anyone help?

cushla machree ? spelling maverneen a ghra

Thanks.

Guest,

Both are terms of endearment, heard frequently in love songs in Irish. Literally translated cushla machree, in Irish cuisle mo chroí, means pulse of my heart, but in reality it's just a term for my darling, my love etc. Maverneen, or mo mhúirnínin Irish , and a ghrá, again mean something along the lines of my love, my treasure etc. Hope this helps!
