11 Jul 00 - 06:04 PM (#255974) Subject: Londons Ordinary From: Potstove Trying to find lyrics to the above song. Heard on an album by now defunct band Jolly Jack (Rolling Down To Old Maui). First line goes "At the royal exchanges I tarried , where galants in satins did shine". Goes on to name a series of public houses in London and their respective clients (The Bishop will dine at the Mitre and the pickpocket at the blind alehouse). Any news or locations would be welcome. (first thread) Thanks Potstove. |

See copies listed as ZN2612 in the broadside ballad index on my website (probably expanded from the song in Heywood's 'The Rape of Lucrece']. That in the Rawlinson collection should be on the Bodley Ballads website. www.erols.com/olsonw |
