They were in the van travelling to a gig up north and he had said dream. Your informant got the words and info just about right for once! The incident happened just before Christmas 1974 at the end of a long and exhausting tour with Magic Lantern and I was sleeping in the back of a smelly old van when I had the dream. I woke up just outside the massive chemical works around Middlesborough. Enough to make anyone weep, whether they'd been dreaming of unicorns or not! I actually wrote the song a week later just after Christmas. Hate to advertise...but... I'm partway through a retrospective album called (you guessed it) "Unicorns". They performed by the stage name Both Wilde (their last name was Wilde). They did an exquisite version of this and other tunes. I believe they may have gone back to England. Anyone come across these two lately? |
