Hello, pleased to meet you.

18 Jul 00 - 05:43 AM (#259853)
Subject: Hello, pleased to meet you.
From: Lox

Hello.

I'm a new member, and I'm announcing my arrival. I've read loads of threads and contributed to a couple. (You'll notice that I'm a highly opinionated individual).

I'm amazed at the diversity of topics. I have been genuinely moved by stories of vietnam, and I nearly wet myself reading the "white" and "heterosexual" debates. (Don't stop writing the joky stuff), its healthy!

Cheers for challenging my mind.

(p.s. yes I am a singer songwriter etc)

Welcome aboard, Lox. You will find this place to be quite..ah..unique. Yeah, that's the word. Quite often one of us is hauled off to the Neil Young Center for the Terminally Screwed for a little "adjustment" but other than that, you'll find a friendly group here. We even manage to get together in the physical world occasionally, so look for gatherings in your area, where ever that is.

Singer songwriter, eh? Well, I'm sure you've seen the threads about HearMe. Download the software and join us. You will find an eager audience.

So fasten your seat belt, Lox. Relax, and enjoy the ride that is Mudcat.

Welcome Lox are you related to Bagel and Cream cheese?
Personally I like my Lox with sliced tomato and capers on dark pumpernickle.
Or are you related to Goldie Lox and the 3 bagels?
Actually I was thinking of calling my first band that name.

Well Lox if you need any help with anything there are many kind folks just waiting to help and there is a great deal of music knowledge circulating around here too.

All the best,
Buttered Bonnie Baguette

We sure are pleased that you have joined us Lox. I would make a joke about the name, but my friend Banjo Bonnie used them all up........LOL. Please take some time and read the Newcomers thread at the top of the page. It will help you through some of the difficult spots and give you some insight. Post a lot, start threads, and enjoy. You are now part of the best online community anywhere.

All the best,

Catspaw, do you mean to tell me those explosions were really caused by soaking the charcoal in smoked salmon? Who would have thought of that? And boy they sure had to use a lot of lox! 3 gallons of smoke salmon? That would have cost a fortune!
How do you find all this information?
Did you know that halavah (an Israeli dessert made of ground sesame seeds & honey) with a swig of Coke explodes in your mouth? Try it sometime.

Alas, Lox is nothing but Jewish sushi. (called BAIT in the Midwest - as Joe Mabus has said in his song.)-----Either that or liquid oxygen-----very cold stuff that, when mixed with paradox, has the potential for violent explosion that can launch one into space (if indeed that is your wont).

But know that we here salute you and draw you in to our grasp/midst like the Enterprise caught in the tractor beam of some heinous enemy bent on -- horror of horrors -- assimilation. It could be worse. Various missionaries might knock on your door.

Good to have you here for us to pick on---not unlike our instruments.

With affection and affectation,

Art Thieme

Lox and Lena, Hi!

Perhaps Lox's nom-de-web is a reference to "The Merry Tales of Lox", which is the name an ethnographer (I forget his name) gave to a some tales about an Eastern Woodland Indian transformer or trickster figure.

Hi L & L, from someone who was never formally welcomed to the Mudcat and is insanely jealous of the welcome you two are getting from the long timers, but harbors NO RESENTMENT WHATEVER!! and bears you no ill-will at all, but knows in his heart that you both will be fine, knowledgeable, and witty contributors to this forum, despite the fact that he is shattered by the warm, welcoming reception you two are receiving that should rightfully have been his a year ago... oh never mind, I'm over it now. Welcome, and all the best. Seamus P.S. All you old 'Catters......don't even think of it now.

And welcome L & L from someone who's only been here a few months and got to busy reading to say "Hey! Hi I'm new"

Well, again, welcome to all of you new ones.

Giac, I find it helpful to come here every three to four hours, and spend 10 or 15 minutes, and once a week (when I have a half hour to an hour), set it for 10 days, just so I can see what threads have happened.

Seamus and Dulci, without something like this, we wouldn't realize you weren't a long time Mud-catter.

I'm sure there are lots who just skim and read. Glad to have them along too.

Maybe we should just set up something that would list our new members...but it would probably get clogged, but Seamus is right. It feels soooo good to get that welcome! And I too would have thought some of us had been around AGES longer than we have (Poor syntax, but i'm being inclusive) And Mbo, you may be right, families who 'cat together etc though I daresay it's a result, not a cause. Jessica was raised on folk music and finds it a great part of her life now. Makes me feel wonderful!

Wow!

I posted this thread the day before I went away on a two week holiday.

I've been a member here now for about six months and I'd assumed that it had slipped away into oblivion.

I didn't expect to be referrd to it six months later by an innocent comment about lox and bagels.

I didn't even know that lox and bagels had anything in common.

Spaw, ROTFLMAO!

cheers folks!
