Authorship:: Fields of Barley/Gold (Sting)

Saw John Kirkpatrick recently at Heaton Folk Club near Lymm; smashing set. He did a version of the above song, which I believe was recently recorded by Sting, of all people. Anyone know the lyrics?

JKB.

Kirkpatrick has recorded the song (Sting, Blue Turtle Music) on Welcome To Hell (John Kirkpatrick Band, Fledg'ling FLED 3011, 1997).

It's one of the best of the new ballads, I love it. Does anyone have the cords handy? Thanks.

Here you go... first verse and middle bit chords before the words they fall on

You'll (Em)remember me when the (C)west wind moves
Upon the fields of (G)barley
You'll (Em)forget the sun in his (C)jealous (G)sky
As we (Am)walk in (D)fields of (G)gold

middle bit

(C)I never made (D)promises lightly
(C)And there have been (D)some that I've broken
(C)But I swear in the (D)days still left
We'll (C)walk in (D)fields of (G)gold
We'll (C)walk in (D)fields of (G)gold

Sting's record and the lyrics on the web both attribute it to Sting. Whoever, it's going to be a standard.

These chords are a little more accurate for Fields of Gold, although I thank and do appreciate Alison's effort.
