Sorry Dave, Noreen and everyone on HearMe tonight. I was enjoying the chat, until my computer developed a case of the Talking Fatal Error Crashing Blue Screen Blues...and I had to shut down and reboot. Not sure just what caused the problem...I'll try again some other time...maybe by then I'll have a mic of my own.

Ah, Tolkein rides again! No Trek references? Isn't there an apt Klingon curse?

I've only ever gotten to Hearme via a link that one of the participants has posted here at the Forum. I'm not certain how to connect otherwise. There doesn't seem to be a link tonight. I tried to get through via last evenings link to no avail. Can someone with much more talent in this area help please? Many thanks, reg (not one of the triplets)

MMario, thanks for the info about how to get to Hearme. I did get to the site via the previous evenings thread where someone posted a link but could not then figure out how to connect to the song circle. It may have been my computer throwing a hissy fit. I'm not sure how Hearme works. Isn't it possible for anyone to host a gathering or song circle there and thereby changing the actual link or location or address of the party? Which would mean each new host would have a new party site and you'd have to obtain the new address for each new gathering before you could get in on the fun.? Or is there only one site with different folks hosting or starting the party and others can always go and be a part of the agreed upon event when it is announced via the threads at the Mudcat? In either case I'll try again now that I've figured out what went wrong with my speakers. I hope to hear ya later. Thanks again, Reg

Reg - anyone could host that has a web site and that is willing to put up the connecting page. What "we" have done (for "we" read Jon/Aine) is set up a site with a permanant "room" connection for mudcat sings. There is also facility on the page to hook to other permanent Hearme Rooms that are wide open to the general public, and to create temporary "private" rooms. For the temporary rooms you would have to get together with someone and agree on the room name. The first time in it takes a while for the applet to download

There is also a "HearMe for ICQ"...a special form of the applet that you add to 'your' ICQ page..(yes, all ICQ members have one, even if they seldom use it for anything)...then YOU have a place to host..or just to chat. A symbol appears next to your name in ICQ, and any ICQ members can meet there...doesn't seem to get used much here.

Hey Dave!

I care...I happen to like Leaving of Liverpool. Brings back fond memories of hearing the Clancies in concert at Carnegie Hall. Wish I could have heard you sing it...but my computer seems to be a bit temperamental sometimes. It's also fairly old.
