01 Aug 00 - 12:01 PM (#269502) Subject: Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass From: catspaw49 Several 'Catters had mentioned how much they enjoyed Seamus and I had never heard him. When I noted that in a thread, Seamus responded with an offer of CD's. I said sure, love to hear you. Now folks, I was expecting a CD or two and was looking forward to sampling the boy. What I GOT was the Seamus COLLECTION!!!! I found a box on my porch and it weighed a ton. My first thought was, this idiot must pack with lead or something, but inside I found all of his CD's. Seamus....a public thank you for your generosity!!!! I didn't respond til now, because I've been listening for days and was kinda' wanting to write a review of sorts, but that ain't happening. The only review that is needed is simple............ You can't go wrong with Seamus Kennedy!!!! I thought about writing a Meebo post, you know...SEAMUS RULES........or something. Frankly, he doesn't rule....he just plain kicks ass with some of the most enjoyable listening and good humor you will find. Da' Big Shamu is one whale of an entertainer and a top notch musician. Nuff said!!! Spaw |

01 Aug 00 - 01:36 PM (#269571) Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass From: SINSULL Thanks, Spaw. I may even be able to go see him in the Buffalo area. Wonder what he does on St. Patrick's Day? Last St. Patrick's Day, Donovan's was jammed with NYC cops so we went to an Indian restaurant. Sorry for the drift. |
01 Aug 00 - 02:01 PM (#269583) Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass From: katlaughing Damn! I didn't make it to the post office today before the heat set in, but I am eagerly awaiting my very own SK CD! Glad to hear ya can't go wrong with one of them!*bg* I kinda figured that the first time I contacted him when I noticed he mentioned having a CD for kids. BTW, ANYONE IN OR NEAR COLORADO: Seamus will be performing at the Highland Games in Estes Park in September. Thanks, Spaw, now i may have to beg someone with ac to go check my mail, today! kat |

01 Aug 00 - 03:17 PM (#269650) Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass From: Jed at Work Agreed. I have really enjoyed his CDs, too. I enjy the humor, and the music ... I have to say my favorite is The Fields of Athenry. I always enjoyed the song, but his recording in this collection is excellent! Greats Stuff! |
01 Aug 00 - 03:21 PM (#269654) Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass From: catspaw49 I agree Jed.......I like his choices on the "Favorites" album too. Many times a favs list is not on my favs list, but Seamus made some excellent choices there. Spaw |
01 Aug 00 - 03:35 PM (#269670) Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass From: katlaughing Somewhar up thar is on the short list, Kendall, but it has to be cheap and I dunno if anywhere in NE qualifies as cheap anymore.*g* One thing, it's gotta be a damn sight cooler than here for the past 3 weeks, phew! PLus we have the top priority for the region wildfire going on right now, just southwest of town, at the far end of the mountain, lots of smoke, not enough resources, and a threat to the entire Goose Egg area, which was made famous in Owen Wister's The Virginian. Double-damn...sorry Seamus, I will still love your music, I know! |

Hope to meet you all somewhere and get into a little picking and singing together. Sinsull, I'll be in Buffalo at the Shannon Pub, October 12-14. All you 'Catters, come on up and say "Hi!" All the best, and thanks. Seamus |
28 Apr 01 - 01:47 AM (#450909) Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass From: Joe Offer Well, I wanted to put something up about hearing Seamus in concert tonight, but I wasn't sure which thread to put it in - "Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass," or "Seamus Kennedy, You're a Wonderful Man." I was hoping for something in between... Anyhow, Seamus is performing this weekend at the 125th Sacramento Valley Scottish Games in Woodland, not far from my home. He had a concert this evening with a Northern California group called Golden Bough, and with extraordinary fiddler Alasdair Fraser. All three acts were wonderful, but Seamus was especially entertaining. His jokes would make Catspaw proud. I've heard Seamus on his CD's, and he's good; but he sounds even better in person. The man has a wonderfully resonant voice (and a very warped sense of humor....) He says he's been performing professionally for 30 years. Gee, it seems it's not often you meet a musician who actually makes a living as a musician. He's a real pro, so I guess he has no need to supplement his income delivering pizza. I picked up a copy of his kids' CD, Gets on Everybody's Nerves, because it had a couple of songs I want to learn. It's a nice piece of work. Thanks for a great evening, Seamus. -Joe Offer- |

28 Apr 01 - 07:04 AM (#450964) Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass From: Big Mick Yeah, someplace else I mentioned his work. I have the same collection Spaw and I am telling you folks that you can't go wrong with him. He has become a reference point for me..........you know what I mean.........as a singer, if I want to hear how a song should sound, then I go see if I have it in my collection of SK CD's. He has a wonderful way with a lyric. I only have one complaint............his jokes...............he is stealing half of my feckin' material...............LOL. And that damn Hal Roach is using the other half.........It ain't easy being me.......... Buy Seamus Kennedy CD's, and see him in concert when he is in your neck of the woods. You won't be sorry. 28 Apr 01 - 09:52 AM (#451027) Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass From: Morticia Gotta add my two pen'orth to this, although he kicked my butt big time for the last thread I did on him...not only is the man a total professional and very talented ( although some of the jokes were well dodgy) but he's modest and kind too.Nah, nah,na, na,nah....you've been outed, Seamus, my friend *BG*. |
28 Apr 01 - 09:55 AM (#451030) Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass From: GUEST, WYSIWYG A firm foot in a velvet slipper, is Seamus. Poor thing, having to put up with things like this thread every so often.. ... we can but console! ~S~ |
28 Apr 01 - 11:00 AM (#451066) Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass From: Liam's Brother Amazingly, I have never heard Seamus sing (nor he me) but we have agreed to correct our mutual failings within a few days. I look forward to that. I have looked at Seamus' website and I saw a picture of him in kilts. Seamus, if you really kick ass in a skirt, you could get a lot of work here in New York City!
All the best, |
28 Apr 01 - 12:46 PM (#451095) Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass From: Jimmy C I can vouch for his talent and fine singing voice. I have 6 of his CD's and my family and I really enjoy them. Looking forward to his Buffalo visit, if I am on this side of the ocean I will make an effort to be there. I never thought a Rossa Man could do anything other than play hurling or football. (inside joke), Seamus I will have a pint for you in Kelly's Cellars the week after next. slan Jimmy |
28 Apr 01 - 12:58 PM (#451108) Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass From: Joe Offer Hey, where is the Seamus Kennedy Website? I checked the URL listed on the CD, www.buymycd.com. That led me to http://seamuskennedy.com/, but that didn't work. I also had no luck with http://www.seamuskennedy.com/ The world needs a Seamus fansite. Where is it? -Joe Offer- |

28 Apr 01 - 01:31 PM (#451134) Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass From: Rick Fielding Seamus has become somewhat of a regular on my radio show. Now granted Seamus, I was hoping that tons of screaming girls would be calling in, requesting more of your good self, and that hasn't happened, BUT, an elderly Irish lady DID phone in and ask if we'd play more of that "funny guy"...Sean Connery, or whatever his name is"!! Don't worry, I straightened her out....told her it was DENNIS DAY! (not really) Hey, when you're in Buffalo, give us a reminder and Heather and I will come down and see you. Maybe we can con Don Meixner to make the trip from Syracuse as well. Still fun to meet Mudcatters. Rick |
28 Apr 01 - 01:36 PM (#451140) Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass From: GUEST, WYS He'll never make it to Buffalo, Rick. He'll stop by for coffee, I'll slip him a mickey, and we'll keep him. They say it's a good thing, having a fantasy life... ~S~ |
