Does anyone know what options are available for those who live outside the U.S. and who do not use U.S. currency, if they want to send a financial contribution to the Mudcat? |

07 Aug 00 - 01:50 AM (#272728) Subject: RE: Help: Sending $ to U.S. From: Escamillo In Argentina, the easiest way is to go to a Western Union office and deposit cash for the transfer plus a commission which varies with the amount of the transfer. For $ 100.00 they charge 16.00, for 1000.00 aprox. 30.00, and so on. Pretty expensive, but the transfer is immediate via Internet. They give you a Transfer Number, then you send an e-mail to your correspondent giving him that number. He can collect immediately in any local Western Union office. Cash to cash in less than 5 minutes. I guess in UK the procedure is the same, but surely less expensive. Un abrazo - Andrés |

In Canada, the prices range about 3 to 5 dollars for the service. Check with your local bank and post office to see if this is available. Here in Canada, it's easy to get Money Orders in US or UK currency. |
08 Aug 00 - 03:53 AM (#273439) Subject: RE: Help: Sending $ to U.S. From: Joe Offer The best and cheapest way to make a contribution to Mudcat from outside the U.S. is to use our secure credit card server, which is on our Support the Mudcat (click) page. Pene asked me this over the weekend, and my Internet service wasn't working well enough for me to make sure. Yeah, the server is still there. Give it a click. -Joe Offer- |

08 Aug 00 - 08:04 PM (#273890) Subject: RE: Help: Sending $ to U.S. From: Joe Offer I don't believe you have to be a member, guest. Go to the Support the Mudcat page and see if it works. It's secure on Mudcat's end, but I can't say what security is like at your company's copmputer network (or whether or not you'll get in trouble). Can anybody say for sure? Can you feel safe transmitting your credit card number to a secure server, no matter what computer you're sending from? -Joe Offer- |
09 Aug 00 - 06:17 AM (#274149) Subject: RE: Help: Sending $ to U.S. From: GUEST,Michael in Swansea Joe, When I tried to access the secure site it told me that I had to be a member. As I mentioned in a previous thread, my way of sending money could be through a friend's wife who has a U.S. bank account. I give her £'s she writes cheque for $'s, easy. Unfortunately she's out of town right now, I've cleared it with him, it's going to cost me a pint of Courage Best Bitter. My one question is who should cheques be made payable to? Cheers...Michael |
