When you say novelty song, do you mean the version done by Spike Jones, which featured a "Peter Lorre" voiced pyromaniac?
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that was a parody of an older "love" song.
I had the first version on a Spike Jones recording, but it's long gone. However, there is at least one CD, maybe more, of his, um, renderings (using that in the correct sense of the word). He was a skilled singer and musician and the lyrics are easy to understand. Good luck, Giac |

Billie Holiday's was an early one, if not the first.] |
