09 Aug 00 - 12:12 PM (#274300) Subject: Good music for a Very Good Cause From: Noreen Hi All! I've just ordered this new CD and think my friends at the Mudcat Café would like to hear about it. I hope nobody minds the plug, as it is for a good cause. HEART OF ENGLAND - CD £13.00 The album has been produced to raise funds for "THE TEENAGE CANCER TRUST" a charity that exists/aims to provide specialist units in hospitals where teenage and young cancer sufferers can "chill out" with their peers rather than be placed in children's or old peoples' wards. Album comprises of sixteen tracks, of which twelve are either new or previously unreleased songs or tunes. 15 artists - 16 tracks. The 2nd of the two songs performed by Andy Guttridge was written by a young man, Lee Fawcett, during the last months of his own fight with cancer and has been included as a poignant reminder that there are many talented young people who are sadly struck down by this awful disease. Featuring: Albion Band (previously unreleased live track), Martin Carthy, Vikki Clayton (previously unreleased track), Fairport Convention, Andy Guttridge(brand new track), Andy Guttridge & Martin Green, Joyce Gang, Little Johnny England, Ralph McTell (previously unreleased live track), Sandland - Beer - McAuley, Colvin Quarmby, Show of Hands (previously unreleased track),Mike Silver, Dave Swarbrick & Kevin Dempsey (previously unreleased track), Richard Thompson (previously unreleased live track), Chris While & Julie Matthews (previously unreleased track) Available by mail order from Musikfolk Ltd. 09 Aug 00 - 03:03 PM (#274429) Subject: RE: Good music for a Very Good Cause From: Gervase Ouch! One little blue clicky think and there's more plastic abuse. Why is it that you can never go to an online music or book store and buy only one thing? A good job it's not like that with cars and women (though, for some folk, I suppose it is!). |

14 Aug 00 - 09:23 PM (#277849) Subject: RE: Good music for a Very Good Cause From: Noreen Thankee kindly folks-I think this thread has probably been seen hanging around the Café for long enough now, people will start talking about it behind its back! CD is an interesting selection. Love the live RT of course (are you listening, Frankie?)and I've just discovered Show of Hands at Cropredy so I'm glad to have a track of theirs on it too. Hey Lox, was that you I saw sidling away from the 'Reduced CDs' bin at Tesco last week with a furtive grin and a copy of 'Sing Something Simple'? I only bought Lindisfarne and Clannad, though I was tempted by 'The Mike Sammes Singers' Tribute to the Monkees' :0) Noreen |

14 Aug 00 - 11:07 PM (#277911) Subject: RE: Good music for a Very Good Cause From: Noreen Elle, that was a virtual tribute to the Monkees, you understand... probably the best sort. :0) Hereby accused and convicted of committing thread drift on my own thread (which had been so ably tended by others in my absence), aided and abetted by Lox!
