Me poor classically trained woodwind player who really can't get into folk music as it happens to be played xxxdy fast.

Help me!Looks like hours of practicing passages are not that helpful.Am I doomed?!Am I dumb?!Are me and my clarinet cast out folk forever?! And also..any tips to learn scores by heart(another classic player who doesn't blow a note unless it's written down...)

thanls for help supporting "The Idiot's Guide to Folk Music"...

Love Lena

I'm not sure I follow this "fast" thing. I hear clarinets in jazz and swing music, and some of those numbers are pretty quick. Most folk music seems leisurely in comparison. Are the tempos in classical music that much slower?

Personally, I'd be happy to hear clarinets in folk music.

Clarinet sounds terrible for irish music.Provare per credere. As for the jazz quick thing,I think jazz improvization is easier stuff to play quick. But then again,it must be me...

Haven't been hearing 'Supersonic'for quite a while...
