Bed is too small for my tiredness; I think you can ignore the copyright claim. Words are the same as I found in Rise Up Singing, except that the songbook has the second verse this way: Rock me to sleep in a cradle of dreams,Song Fest (1948) has "Sing me a lullaby of dreams." I think I like the "Kididdles" version best, but I still don't think they deserve a copyright. -Joe Offer- |

Here's my webpage www.ceimd.com/folksing.htm and here's how I sing the song. My the way, Marion "Candy" Sutton could sing the whole thing in "duck talk"...amazing! Bed is Too Small I learned this song at camp May Flather in the 1960's Bed is too small for my tiredness Give me a hill topped with trees. Tuck a cloud up under my chin. Lord, blow the moon out, please. Rock me to sleep in a cradle of dreams. Sing me a lullaby of leaves Tuck a cloud up under my chin Lord blow the moon out please ---Judy Cook

14 Aug 00 - 10:24 AM (#277390) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Bed Is to Small From: bet Judy, will your tour come anywhere close to western Colorado? it looks like I'll probably be alone this fall, empty house, so am looking for things to do, especially on the weekends. bet |
14 Aug 00 - 03:38 PM (#277587) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Bed Is to Small From: GUEST,Judy Cook Dear Bet, I tried & failed to get a booking in Colorado (I'm not famous, and there's not a LOT of interest in unaccompanied solo songs & ballads). The closest I'll be is Kansas City on Oct 1 and Tulsa OK on the 5th. That's a long way. But thanks very much for asking. Cheers, Judy Cook |

14 Aug 00 - 07:20 PM (#277764) Subject: Judy Cook, Folksinger From: Joe Offer Judy's Web Site is here: http://ceimd.com/folksing.htm (click). The links to Judy's recordings don't work, but there's lots of other information. You can buy her CD's at CAMSCO or Folk-Legacy so Mudcat will get a cut, and I'm sure Judy will have copies of her CD for sale at the FSGW Getaway - right, Judy? Judy has a wonderful, powerful voice. She interprets songs with imagination and intelligence, and often a nice touch of humor. If you don't mind my mixing metaphors a bit, I think you could say she sings with a twinkle in her eye. It's a real pleasure to hear her sing. -Joe Offer- |
14 Aug 00 - 08:10 PM (#277798) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Bed Is to Small From: Jeri Joe, there's Bad HTML in the links. I figured out the "four short samples from Judy's demo tape," (1.33 MB) but couldn't find Billy Grimes the Drover. Judy's delightful - both her personality and her singing. |
14 Aug 00 - 09:59 PM (#277867) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Bed Is to Small From: GUEST,Judy Cook Thanks Joe & Jeri, you have no idea how good your words make me feel! My webmaster (Dennis) is hurrying to find out what's wrong with the links. He'll no doubt have them fixed quickly. Yes, I certainly will have both CD's at the Getaway (BG). --Judy Cook |
14 Aug 00 - 10:18 PM (#277884) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Bed Is to Small From: Jeri Judy, the links are to files on a computer instead of to a web address. I'm sure Dennis will figure it out. If not, I know The Secret. :-) |

15 Feb 13 - 03:14 PM (#3480105) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Bed Is Too Small From: Ebbie I love the ambiance created in these lyrics. It reminds me of when after spending a year in the mountains in a cabin closely surrounded by trees that after moving back to town on a busy street I had trouble sleeping: Town was too quiet! (Never mind the tortured syntax of that sentence!) |

09 Jun 22 - 06:09 PM (#4143870) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Lord, Blow the Moon Out Please From: GUEST,Harriette Woods Luttrell Did any of you old Girl Scouts attend the International Girl Scout Round Up in Colorado Springs, CO in 1959? I was there, with 6 girls from Nebraska and with two girls from Sweden. My dog tag number was 4D 01 04 1. Today this campsite is marked along the highway as being the place where 10,000 Girl Scouts and Girl Guides camped with the help of the United States Air Force for two weeks in the summer of 1959. I moved from Nebraska and now live in mid - Missouri at Lake of the Ozarks. I was 17 yeas old that summer of 1959 but remember singing all our beloved songs. Now it is 2022 and I am still a Lifetime Girl Scout and went to bed last night singing, Lord Blow the Moon Out, Please. I enjoyed reading all your comments about this song - Thanks.
