Need lyrics and, possibly, chords. Can't make out what is being said on the LP.

I believe the LP is "How Come The Sun" (1971; Warner/Reprise Records RS 6443, released in the UK as Reprise K44129); the song is credited "T. Paxton/ D. Horowitz", so I assume that we're not talking about the traditional song.  Unfortunately, I haven't seen the album in question in 20 years...now somebody round here must have it?

I have the album and will have a go at transcribing the words, soon I hope. I know it was an album in the era that did not include printed lyrics because years ago I transcribed "General Custer" from it and still occasionally sing it. I always wanted to learn "Louise" but there were enough word uncertainties for me that I never did learn it.

Well two weeks later here it is.

A SAILOR'S LIFE
(Tom Paxton and David Horowitz, 1971)

"Lie down, lie," sailors cry,
When God's on the water.
Pity those in his angry eye;
Little lambs for slaughter.

You'll get by, you'll set sail,
You'll bring wonders to you.
Let no strange scribbler write your tale
Lest he say he knew you.

Rocks and shoals, maelstrom holes
Play with sailor's weary souls
Storm and gale, shredded sail;
Pray the capstan doesn't fail.

"Lie down, lie," sailors cry,
Helpless sailors stranded.
"Lie down, lie," they will surely die
Long before they've landed.

Rocks and shoals, maelstrom holes
Play with sailor's weary souls
Storm and gale, shredded sail;
Pray the capstan doesn't fail.

"Lie down, lie," sailors cry,
When God's on the water.
Pity those in his angry eye;
Little lambs for slaughter.

Hi,
yesterday I found a song by Tom Paxton: "A sailor's life". My English is too poor to understand the iyrics.
In your database is a song with the same title but different lyrics. It would be great, if you could post me the lyrics of the song that Paxton has sung.
Thank you!
