Mikey Joe,
Couldn't find any lyrics but Jimmy Crowley's web site can be e-mailed.
It says that he wrote the song himself so I'm sure it would be worth a try!

Sorry can't do the clicky thing so it has to be cut n paste!
Good luck with your search,

Here are the words you are after. I think this is a great song which I enjoy singing and always goes down well with audiences. A word of caution though - I transcribed this from the CD but I am not convinced about some of the words or the name of the tall ship, so if anyone takes issue with any of the words here I would love to know the correct ones!

MY LOVE IS A TALL SHIP
Jimmy Crowley

My love is a tall ship and a sweet brigantine,
One of the old girls seldom now seen,
And she heaves to the wind, boys. See how she flies
With stars in her hair, boys, and mist in her eyes.

My love is a tall ship. No finer was seen,
For many's the ocean my true love has been,
And the wind in the rigging it whispers her name,
While brace on the bows watches over the main.

So blow your breezes; blow a fair wind to the Askart,
And see that lady go o'er the dark rolling sea.

Haul on the sheets, boys. Make up the downhaul,
And step on the oars, lads, and mind you don't fall.
Stand by to brace, boys. Unfurl the topsail,
And we'd soon make her home on the watery main.

So blow your breezes; blow a fair wind to the Askart,
And see that lady go o'er the dark rolling sea.

My love is a tall ship and a sweet brigantine,
One of the old girls seldom now seen,
And she heaves to the wind, boys. see how she flies
With stars in her hair, boys, and mist in her eyes.

The Askart was an Irish sail training ship Jimmy Crowley trained on.

Well done from Jimmy's accent! The ship is the Asgard - actually Asgard II, named after an earlier one. She's an Irish sail training ship, alright.

Regards

By the way, the last line of verse 2 should read:

While GRACE on the bows watches over the main

For anyone who might not be versed in Irish history:
The 'Grace' who watches over the main is Grainne Mhaille, or Grace O'Malley, the Irish 'Queen of the Sea' called pirate by Elizabeth I, whom she met as equal.
The first ship Asgard was used in 1914 to carry a load of guns for the Irish Volunteers in the events leading up to the 1916 Rising.
'Asgard' is the Norse home of the gods, Scandinavian equivalent of Olympus.

If you are in the U.S., the song has also been recorded by Patrick O'Flaherty of Connemara, now of Lewisburg WV,
on 'Andrea's Brown Eyes' and is available through his site, http://www.poflaherty.com/

See if this is any help regarding chords. (If transposition is a problem, say so and you'll get help.

Sean has not posted under that name except once, and that was in 2007. FYI.
