Put on a little Dylan, sitting on a fence Any idea what Dylan song those lyrics are from? --Matt |

One of Bob's more passionately angry songs and pretty chauvinistic, but its one helluva' piece of work. Go HERE for full lyrics. Spaw |

From: Mbo That's cool, 'cause I just got "Blood on the Tracks" today from the library, because I noticed "Tangled Up In Blue" was on it, and it's mentioned in the lyrics too. BTW did I ever mention that Oasis has several Dylan references in their songs, including Blood on The Tracks, and "Sooner or Later"? (ducking folky-heaved objects) |

BTW- Just out of couriousity, did you ever find that David Russle CD (of celtic music arranged on the classical guitar) I recomended? Sorry getting so off topic! Benjamin |

19 Aug 00 - 07:39 PM (#280917) Subject: RE: What Bob Dylan Song is This? From: bob jr it is worth the time to find the "original" new york versions of the songs that dylan recut in minnosota...he backed off from some of the more revealing aspects of the lyrics when he redid them.....if you see her say hello is available on the bootleg series and one version of your a big girl now is available on biograph (as well as the outake up to me) but a complete original version of this album is worth seaking out. the official version was also sped up during mastering . the liner notes on the back of the lp won a grammy but refer to lyrics off the original new york album before it was recalled. |

19 Aug 00 - 08:05 PM (#280924) Subject: RE: What Bob Dylan Song is This? From: Mbo Not much doin' with the classical guitar these days, sadly, Ben. My major (graphic design) is so big and time consuming, it does allow for a minor (which I had planned to get in Classical guitar). Some majors here at ECU don't require minors. Besides, there's not much time anymore to give it the practise it deserves. Yeah I still play the old pieces and accompany myself on songs, but I haven't learned any new stuff for well over a year... --Matt |

19 Aug 00 - 08:41 PM (#280928) Subject: RE: What Bob Dylan Song is This? From: Little Hawk "Idiot Wind" is probably the most viciously angry, bitter song that Bob ever wrote (with the possible exception of "Positively 4rth Street"). It's a chilling rant, probably aimed at quite a number of targets (Sara? Fame itself? The music industry? The media? Dylan's more troublesome fans and detractors? Baez? Well...at least some of those for sure...). It was distinguished by one very notable departure...for almost the first time ever Bob castigated himself as well as the unnamed object of his wrath... "Idiot Wind...blowin' through the buttons of our coats, blowing through the letters that we wrote, Idiot Wind...blowing through the dust upon our shelves...We're idiots, babe, it's a wonder we can even feed ourselves!" "Blood On The Tracks" may just be the best album ever recorded, period...but that's only one man's opinion. It's certainly one of Bob's 3 or 4 finest.
