25 Aug 00 - 09:16 AM (#284962) Subject: RE: Help: The Getaway From: kendall I'm on the fence. Reminds me of the two old codgers sitting on a park bench in Camden, Maine a few years ago. They were discussing the Worlds Fair which was being held in Tennessee. One says "I dont know why they couldn't have had it in Bangor so everyone could go." |
25 Aug 00 - 09:24 AM (#284969) Subject: RE: Help: The Getaway From: Midchuck So let's have a mudcat gathering in Bangor. I'd go, if I didn't have a gig or some damn thing.

25 Aug 00 - 11:04 AM (#285044) Subject: RE: Help: The Getaway From: Jeri Kendall - GET OFF THAT FENCE!!! Judging by everything you've ever said about yourself, you would have the time of your life at this event. There is constant music of a home-made variety. The atmosphere is very laid-back. There are people who are kind, considerate, supportive, humor-loving, knowledgable, - the sort of place where you feel like you've come home five minutes after you arrive, even when you don't know most of the folks. I still wonder at the FSGW folks' ability to welcome so many "outsiders" with as much generosity as they showed last year. I was terribly afraid of being seen as one of an "invading horde," but I couldn't see that reaction from anyone. More people equalled more music. |

25 Aug 00 - 07:07 PM (#285333) Subject: RE: Help: The Getaway From: Joe Offer Say Midchuck, despite the way it's spelled, Bangor is pronounced BanGORE (but they'll probably vote for Bush up there). And if we were to have a Mudcat gathering in Bangor, it just wouldn't work. I might go from California, but it would be too far for all the people in Bath. I once went from California to a party in Sedgwick Maine. I had to make turns on two unmarked dirt roads, but I found the place just fine. On the way, I passed two guys who were pulled off the road, talking on a cell phone. I had a hunch who they were, and I was right - they were going to the same party, but they came from Little Deer Isle, five miles away. They got lost, and were calling for directions. Come to think of it, maybe it would be fun to have a Mudcat gathering in Maine. Not in Bangor, though. -Joe Offer- |
25 Aug 00 - 07:58 PM (#285354) Subject: RE: Help: The Getaway From: Big Mick Kendall, you would have the time of your life. I am telling you, this is one of the finest gatherings around. You literally can pick, sing, chat, eat........everything, until you pass out......which I almost did last year. There is a possibility that I may not be able to make this event this year due to my responsibilities in the campaign, and if that is the case it will make me miserable. I have anxiously awaited this gathering for the whole year. Please come to the gathering, it would be that much better for your being there. Mick |

26 Aug 00 - 12:05 AM (#285479) Subject: RE: Help: The Getaway From: Sandy Paton Joe: I'll bet Bangor goes for Gore this time. I won't give you a bet on the whole state, but Bangor... yeah. Mick: Good to talk with you this afternoon. If the state of Michigan's electoral votes are in the balance, I'll record the entire bloody Getaway for you and hand deliver the tapes, while you just stay up there charming the population with your Irish magic. Kendall: You could fly down and have a local charmer pick you up at the airport. Kathy Westra has a car, y'know. I bet she could be conned into it. Now, if only we could talk Hedy West into joining us! Sandy |

26 Aug 00 - 02:30 PM (#285670) Subject: RE: Help: The Getaway From: folk1234 I mailed my application for membership in FSGW and reservations for the Getaway yesterday. I've done very little this year (my titanium bionic knee is just now beginning to cooperate) and I'm truly looking forward to making music and meeting more 'catters. See ya' all there. |
26 Aug 00 - 03:40 PM (#285711) Subject: RE: Help: The Getaway From: GUEST,Roger in Baltimore Come, come, come to the Getaway. You shan't regret it. If you have had any face to face contact with Mudcatters you should know that that alone is worth the price of admission. If you have never met face-to-face with a bunch of Mudcatters then this is certainly the time and the place to do it. I know it is not a one day drive, so flying or taking the bus are options. Send a plea for the last leg of transportation out on the Mudcat and you'll probably be able to get to Ramblewood. And you don't have to pack much. It's clothing optional. Of course, in Maryland, in October you might opt for a full set of clothes (and maybe a coat and sweater). Roger in Baltimore, who sent registrations for Marge and himself eons ago. |
