Thanks to Pene for the link to Roger Miller. What I need now are the chords and lyrics to Jolly Old St. Nicholas. This was recorded in the seventies by Eddy Arnold on a Christmas album. Jeepman

Subject: Lyr/Chords Add: JOLLY OLD ST. NICHOLAS (ca. 1898)
From: Genie

I tried to open several links and threads that should have had these lyrics, but none of them worked  (couldn't access them), so here are the lyrics and chords.

Jolly Old St. Nicholas     ca. 1898

Jolly old St. Nicholas, lean your ear this way.    C   G  C  C7
Don't you tell a single soul what I'm going to say!    F   C   G  G7
Christmas eve is coming soon;   C    G
Now, you dear old man,      C  C7
Whisper what you'll bring to me.      F   C
Tell me, if you can.     G  C

When the clock is striking twelve,
When I'm fast asleep,
Down the chimney broad & black
With your pack you'll creep.
All the stockings you will find hanging in a row.
Mine will be the shortest one--
You'll be sure to know.

Johnny wants a pair of skates, Susie wants a sled.
Jenny wants a picture book--orange, blue and red.
As for me, dear Santa Claus, you must know the rest.
Choose for me, dear Santa Claus what you think is best.

Subject: Lyr Add: JOLLY OLD SAINT NICHOLAS (Stan Boreson)
From: Jim Dixon

Stan Boreson sings a parody version of JOLLY OLD SAINT NICHOLAS, using his customary Scandinavian accent, on his album "I Yust Go Nuts at Christmas." You can hear it at YouTube. I assume he invented the chorus.

JOLLY OLD SAINT NICHOLAS
As sung by Stan Boreson

Jolly old Saint Nicholas, you just stay away
Unless you bring a coat of fur for my wife Christmas day.
She will really beat me up if she don't get that coat.
It don't have to be a mink; it could be billy-goat.

CHORUS: Jingle, jingle, tinkle, tinkle, sleigh bells in the snow.
It's jolly old Saint Nicholas and his reindeer, don't you know.
Jingle, jingle, tinkle, tinkle, sleigh bells in the snow.
It's jolly old Saint Nicholas and his reindeer, don't you know.

Ingvall wants a choo-choo train; Tina wants a dolly.
My uncle needs a brand-new brain; his old one's shot, by golly.
Little Larsie wants a drum; now, don't you bring him that.
He would drive us crazy with his rat-a-tat, tat-tat-tat.

CHORUS

Hjalmar says he wants a wig that cover up his head,
But if you ain't got one right now, a mop will do instead.
Please bring me some brand-new jokes; the old ones that I tell
Just would drive the sanest man into a padded cell.

CHORUS
