Who's Shorty & why is he at the bottom ?

Just an inquiry. When I pull up the forum page and the list of blue threads comes up, there's a non-blue word, "shorty" at the bottom. What's that all about ?

Shorty's my hero! He's one of the computers who deals with all this guff. I don't know why he's become such an unashamed self-publicist recently, maybe he's going for a recording contract?

loki.mudcat.org doesn't say "loki" at the bottom...it doesn't say anything.

Les, this post by Max should give you a little bit of info about the machines in Mudcat and their names: http://www.mudcat.org/Detail.CFM?messages__Message_ID=270468

Saw you on telly yesterday, Quincy, but I'm afraid it was a repeat.

How do you get such good looking young chicks being so ahem... mature?

Do the scripts take long to write?

Just wondering!

BTW - when I try to create a new thread, after I put in the title, I get the following error message, and it wont let me go any further. Anyone know what that's all about?

Wednesdays are kind of a universal internet busy day. Not sure why other than its happy happy hump day.

Mudcat Radio does have an effect though, probably because it is the only day (and time) folks know they will see eachother online and in the chat etc (rathe than the appeal of our program). Nothing else about the Mudcat has specific times or dates as of yet so it fascilitates community gathering.

Oh, and Shorty is at the bottom of the threads because I was messing with a technique to distribute the Mudcat hits to three machines. I needed to know which machine was pretending to be www when I was hitting it. I ended up using a technique that makes it irrelivant, so I will be removing it shortly... ha ha - shortly.

See this thread about the errors over the weekend.

Gee,

I thought this was a folk song thread, not a computer thread. In American prison work songs, Shorty is a little train that was part of the prison system. The "bottom" referred to the bottom land, more explicitly the flat land typically found along rivers. So Shorty at the bottom simply meant the train was running down along the land by the river where many of the fields which the prisoner's worked were located. See, it is all so simple when you think about it.

So what's all this about networks and hits and all?

Roger in Baltimore (he's in the bottom, whoa)

Yeah, in Kendall's case the taxpayers bit the bullet and rather than keep springing for Viagra or even its generic equivalent, Mycoxaphalin, the decision was made to install hydraulics.

I saw Shorty ducking into the Mudcat Tavern. I think Shorty has a gig there. Looked to me like Shorty was carrying an instrument, but you know Shorty moves quickly so I'm not entirely sure. Anybody know what instrument Shorty plays?

Speaking of Shorty: a Short story about something that really happened recently!

A certain city employee was installing some new software and got to the point where a new password was to be put in. She was in a feisty mood and typed in "penis". But an error message came back saying "Password too short. Insert another". LOL! Margo

The truth explained

Late last year we were averaging about 12,000 messages posted per month.

It was more like 9,837

on our local network at Onstage which is made up of about 25 computers on a T1 (1.54Mbps) line. Some machines of ours have 25 to 50 Web sites on ONE SINGLE MACHINE. No more California Bill D, that was years ago.

Read this as .....12 computers....but if it was not so antiquated a site it could ALL be done on ONE GOOD server....you get what you pay for.

Don't believe all that you read and don't accept all that you feel......

..................................

Sincerely, .gargoyle

(back from the Europe ....for a brief spell.....glad to see the Kat banished and all intact.)

Carol, maybe Loki is the Mudcat's mouth and shorty is the other end of the alimentary canal. That would explain it.

BSeed(CharlesKratz),

You gotta stop hanging around with Joe Offer. His inability to resist a scatalogical reference seems to be rubbing off on you. ;-)

(Actually, Max was, and perhaps still is experimenting with that round-robin concept, and I'm guessing that that was an early success within the forum.)
