Lyr Req: Going Down to Santa Fe Town

Subject: going down to sante fe
From: GUEST,al_here_2000@yahoo.com

I know a few lines
"going down to sante fe, gotta get a ticket and I'm on my way,
see the sun going down in the west, that's the time I like the best.
Going down to sante fe, gotta see a preacher 'bout a girl......."
If you know the rest I would appreciate it. Thanks.

No luck at all on lyrics, but I did find out that it was recorded by "The Westerners" (Massey Family) as a medley called Texas Trail/Goin Down to Santa Fe. It's available for sale HERE, for $12 US, but it's a 78..........will keep looking.

According to http://settlet.fateback.com/OK5600.htm
"Going Down to Santa Fe Town" was recorded by Louise Massey & the Westerners on OKeh 5740, in 1934. Elsewhere, I have found a slightly longer quote: "Going down to Santa Fe town to see the big fiesta" and with the refrain of "Perk-a-deedle-di-dle-um-tweet-tweet".

'Here's an obscure one from my own dad, which he sang loudly and frequently:

"Oh, we're all going down
to Santa Fe town
to join the big fiesta!

We're all going down
to Santa Fe town
to join the big fiesta!

Perka deedle di do 1-2-3,
Perka deedle di do 1-2-3!"

He said he saw it on some old cartoon when he was a kid. At some point, years ago, I believe I saw a snip of that cartoon; it was an old Terry Toons starring Farmer Brown (I believe), and some proto- Heckle and Jeckle characters. Does this ring a bell with anyone?'

Found that on a board somewhere.

Here's my transcription from a recording I heard on Spotify:

SANTA FE TOWN
As sung by Ken Curtis and the Novelty Aces on "Radio & Recording Rarities, Volume 38" : Chuck-Wagon Jamboree, Episode 16, 1948.

CHORUS: Perka deedle eye doe, 1-2-3. (4x)
Oh, we're all goin' down to Santa Fe town to join the big fiesta. (2x)

1. Oh, saddle Old Paint and away we'll go.
We're goin' down to the rodeo.
We'll rope all day and dance all night,
And in the mornin' we'll look a fright. CHORUS

2. Oh, Santa Fe folks they sure are gay
When fiesta's in full sway,
For that's the time when hearts are light.
They laugh and sing and they never fight. CHORUS
