Lyr Req: Like some army ever onwards...

Help! Woke at 02:30 with bits of a chorus in my head. I know from past experience that it won't be cured till I find it. (Tried the forum and the database) The vaguely remembered words with big gaps go...

"Like some army ever onwards ......... ..............come whate'er betide ........................... ......till the snow melts on the mountainside."

It's driving me mad (..madder!) Peter

I know it is by John Tams and is from his musical based on ship-building.That's all I've got so far.

Here's a list of John Tams' songs. The compiler admits it's not complete. Click on a song title and you will see the lyrics.

TILL THE SPRING COMES by JOHN TAMS

Cold the morning
Come the dawning
Frost comes creeping in
At very side
But for us who stand together
Bitter weather never can divide.

CHORUS
Like some army ever onward
We shall conquer
Come what may betide
Till the spring comes on the river
And the snow melts on the mountain side.

Hands grow colder
Lives grow older
Cruel winter seeps into the vein
Hear the clamour
Raise the banner
For the living iron
Rises again.
