Mudcat tees - kids to 4x adult, mugs

The mudcat patch thread made me think of asking how many would be interested in this idea. In addition to the Official Mudcat tee, Susan, dick, Max, and all, what do you think of an online store like this with Mudcat artwork? Alice's art on shirts and mugs and mousepad.

I can do some watercolors of a real mudcat fish, create the graphics using the logo, etc., manage setting it up and updating it, and it can be accessed internationally. This service only offers white shirts, but there are other advantages. They sell kids sizes from small up to adult sizes 4x. No money is invested up front by the Mudcat/DT. For creating the original art I would need a portion of the markup, but it would be a hassle free way for Mudcat and DT to offer more items.

I have sold shirts and mugs from my own store and received only good feedback from customers about the product.

Just suggesting this to see if people think it is a good idea... Because the art is printed by transfers, it can be full color and easily changed by uploading new art. There are no minimum orders. I could create custom graphics for special gatherings and upload them to the Mudcat cafepress store. We could have holiday prints - or even souvenir of special events (Neil Young Center reunion?) or a Welcome to the Mudcat Tavern mug... or a mug that says, this is my Mudcat tip jar... or a Mudcat radio shirt.... I have lots of ideas about this, but need to know if it flies with dick, Susan, Max, and all of you out there.

This is a great idea, Alice. I'm thinking tiples, and what about the thread that discussed what to do with various body parts while playing guitar (think of the images - ouch), possums, etc. Wait til 'Spaw gets a hold of this. I'm thinking highly collectible items, here. I love it. C'mon everybody. Let's have more ideas.

I have a graphic with crawfish that I was thinking I could easily adapt to a big mudcat fish in the center with different instruments across the bottom. It would say Mudcat where it now says Louisiana. A back print, like my dragonfly, of a watercolor of a mudcat fish would be cool. There is no extra charge for printing on the front and back. Check out the different graphics on these pages, some of which I could adapt to the folk/blues/Mudcat theme. A petroglyph design of swimming mudcat fish and figures playing instruments would be neat. I could also do an blanket print type repeat graphic like the wolf/Native American design, using mudcat fish and possums instead of the wolves. I work in a wide variety of styles and subjects, just to let everyone know you would be getting quality work.

Are mudcat fishes the only possible subject or is that a free contribution to every possible idea?!Besides, did you ever talk about putting together a mudcat album with 100% original mudcat musicians?!And other of us could mind about the artwork for the cover...

Hi, Banjer, I don't have permission to use the Mudcat logo and I haven't put time into creating new art until I know this idea would be approved by Susan and dick of the DT and Max of the Mudcat.

The only products available doing this through CafePress are those you see at the link I posted. Each product can have the same or a different design as the other products, (I hope that is understandable).

I hope this thread has not taken attention away from the embroidered patches.

The patches are an excellent solution for providing something people can use to customize their own style of cap, hat, jacket, tote bag, strap, as well as being able to be glued onto any surface.
The embroidered patch thread is here, please CLICK here.

How about a design of various folk instruments such as banjo, guitar, dulcimers, mandolin, etc. arranged in some eyecatching way with a spot in the middle to sew one of the embroidered patches if anyone was so inclined. The artwork could stand alone or the patch added according to the individual's tastes. I understand one would get the patches from one source and the shirts from the other. Or perhaps you all could combine efforts. I am sure that obtaining permission to use the logo would not be all that difficult since it would benefit the Mudcat. Just a thought or two.

Alice- you are certainly multi-talented! I, for one, would LOVE a t-shirt. Out of curiosity, anyone, is there such a thing as a "mudcat" for real? Is is an insider's password? I've always been curious, but never asked before. Cordially, Sheila

Sheila, a mudcat is a common name for a catfish. That's why you see a catfish jumping out of a banjo on the logo at the top of the page.

Lovely stuff, Alice, I like the ideas.

**thread creep**

Guest, Sheila: There have been several threads about mudcats, the fish, but I'm too lazy to find them. However, where I grew up there were three kinds of catfish, all bottom feeders. There were channel cats, blue cats and mudcats. Channel and blue catfish feed in running streams and have a good, sweet taste. Mudcats feed, as their name implies, in muck and slime in muddy areas -- and they taste like it. Against all advice, as a teenager, I cooked a large mudcat I had caught. No one else would try it. I took one bite and disposed of it promptly. Oh, there also was a fish called a spoonbill catfish, but I think it was not a true catfish. Last I heard, it was nearing extinction, more's the pity, it is an exotic-looking creature.

**end creep**

Alice, I like the idea of different instruments, too, and the variety of sizes available.

I grew up calling them bullheads instead of catfish for some reason. I'm not about to call this place the Bullhead Cafe but sometimes it seems like the Bull**** Cafe. *BG*

Naemanson, bullheads here are little fish we use as bait... as "I'm going to go screen some bullheads". You take a window screen, stand in a relatively shallow creek and place one edge against the creek bottom, while you have another person turn over rocks upstream. I did this years ago, and now that I think of it, I have no idea if it is legal or not to do this! You catch the bullheads in the screen, then go to a big river and use them for bait for big trout. More thread creep... Bullheads are those black, rubbery-looking fish with the annoying spines and long 'whiskers', aren't they? We always considered them seperate from catfish when I was a kid, but I s'pose they must be a kind of catfish...
