Great comedy song. I don't know who wrote it or performed it, but I recall hearing it at a party a couple o' years ago. Tweeter

10 Jan 01 - 04:51 PM (#372404) Subject: RE: Help! Looking for the tamale song From: Sorcha The only reference Copernic can find to the Tamale Song has to do with something written in the late 1800's in San Antonio, about tamales, no doubt. I could'nt find any lyric for it, or for the one above. Sorry |
12 Jan 01 - 08:57 AM (#373263) Subject: RE: Help! Looking for the tamale song From: wes.w Robert Johnson, the 1920/30s blues man, did a song with tamales called something like "They're Red Hot' in a floating verses skiffle type style. Chorus starts: Hot Tamales and they're red hot, yes she got them to sell Anything like that? |
12 Jan 01 - 08:02 PM (#373649) Subject: Lyr Add: THE TAMALE SONG (Leon Albo) From: GUEST,The Doer of Things THE TAMALE SONG by Leon Albo copyright 1997 Does the ayatollah drink Coca-Cola? I don't think so. Does Mario Andretti eat the spaghetti? I don't know. Did henry Fonda drive in a Honda When he had to go? Did Mohammed Ali eat the tamale? Does anybody want to dance? Does anybody want to dance? Slip into your dancing pants. I know you can. Don't say you can't. Does anybody want to dance? Does Jerry Clower sing in the shower? I don't care. Does G. Gordon Liddy really look pretty? He got no hair. Does Hillary Rodham have a big bottom With some to spare? Does the Dalai Lama wear his pajama Whenever he want to dance? (Repeat chorus) It's a cute song by a weird fellow.

12 Jan 01 - 10:30 PM (#373710) Subject: RE: Help! Looking for the tamale song From: Haruo Thanks. It is cute, and I'm sure he is indeed weird (weird is one of those weird exceptions to the i-before-e rule; and should be learnt and stuck to as doing it right materially reduces the odds you'll be misread as "wired"). Liland |
13 Jan 01 - 08:40 AM (#373889) Subject: RE: Help! Looking for the tamale song From: GUEST,Doer of Things Thanks, Liland for the spell-check. That word continually sneaks in mis-spelled in my writings. As for Albo, I believe that he was not only w-e-i-rd but also wired. I think with the off-center sense of humor he employs, he must have gotten it from strange journeys. DOT |
13 Jan 01 - 07:12 PM (#374135) Subject: RE: Help! Looking for the tamale song From: GUEST,ALBO I am neither weird nor wired. Nor is my song "cute". It is a serious comment on a serious subject. I have enjoyed "strange journeys", however, my humor is not "off-center", it does not exist. Where did "Daffadile" hear my song? I bet it was in some kind of serious and intellectual environment. And, Sorcha, I did not write this song in the late 1800's, nor in San Antonio. I have never been to San Antonio. To those of you who have appreciated the somber, thoughtful tone of this fine song, I will say "I appreciate you!" To those who have considered it "cute", perhaps a second reading will elucidate you. Thank you all for the the comments. And thanks to the Doer of Things for telling me that my work was being discussed at the Mudcat Cafe. I am honored! Leon Albo |
13 Jan 01 - 07:31 PM (#374143) Subject: RE: Help! Looking for the tamale song From: Sorcha Well, I didn't really think it did, you understand. Funny song! The funniness to me is in the truthfulness. I am amazed that anyone actually found the song, now we just need Daffy to come back after it........ |
14 Jan 01 - 11:01 AM (#374325) Subject: RE: Help! Looking for the tamale song From: GUEST,ALBO In fact, I'd like to hear from Daffy and Tweeter (no monkeyman). Both of you accurately quoted from the song. Where did you hear it? I've never heard anyone play it but myself, and I don't like the way he does it. Maybe someone did a cover of it that is better than the original! One more question...does the Dali Lama wear his pajama whenever he wants to dance? Leon Albo
