Rick on new CD of Canada Folk Greats

I had the misfortune of having to stay at work a bit late last night, but I had the good fortune of being able to catch the Rick Fielding's radio show, Acoustic Workshop on CIUT, Toronto (Ican run Real Player from my office, but not home PC). It was a great show last night, and a bit surprsing for an "acoustic" workshop since Rick's in studio's guests were the modern, semi-electric jazz band, Kitchen Musik ... but very interesting none-the-less! I was enjoying the sounds and banter of these young musicians when Rick had challenged his out of town listeners to call in. Well I know Rick was hoping for a call from some exotic listener from Sydney ... but what he got was a call from Dallas TX!

During the call Rick told me that he'd been asked to perform on an upcoming CD compilation of Canada's best folk acts, as one of Canada's best guitarists. Now I know I've missed some of the details in my description since Rick's on-air time didn't give him much time to explain, so Rick, please jump in here and tell us a bit more about the project, when it'll happen and when we can look for it, who else'll be on it, what record label, etc ....

And congratulations, Rick! It's an honor well deserved!

Like I said on the other thread, I was getting a lot of the dreaded "Net Congestion" and didn't get much (besides aggravated) from last night's show. Great to hear it though and I'll be looking forward to hearing from Rick on this. Thanks Jed!

BTW Jed.....What's a great Candada anyway? I 've had some great manicotti over the years ..... anything like that?

chuckle Spaw, you poke fun at my typographically challenged post! I am not sure if the problem lies in my brain or in my fingers, but I always seem to leave out letters, words, or add words where they don't belong. I am sure if I don't reread this note carefully, I'll send it off with a string of errors!

But to answer your question, we have an 'alternate/pop' venue in Dallas called Club Dada, maybe this CD will canned there.

I make so many typos I suppose I shouldn't kid about it, but ya' know I always have the converse feeling. I'm more likely to jab at others for the same crap I do as to take the "high ground" and "judge not lest ye be judged." Geeziz, if I did that, I'd have nothing to say.....which a lot of folks would take as a blessing around here.

Thanks again for the info Jed......and BTW, I'm ordering your CD next week.

Is it performed in the cantina by Candida?

Nice to hear from you last night Jed. I'm enjoying your album a lot.

The project that I told you a little bit about is probably a few months away from fruition. When there's a release date I'll keep ya posted.

Rick

Who is the label producing the album, Rick? Can you tell us who else will be on it? What the theme of the album is? etc.? Did I get my initial intro facts correct?

I went ahead and posted prior to verifying on the premise that it's better to apologise then ask permission!

Spaw has a real Candada dry sense of humor.
