I have all the Smither albums and it is not on any them - there is no Smither album with the title you gave. John Hiatt has a song titled 'Real Fine Love'. It is on his 'Stolen Moments' album. Hey, maybe you confused it with Mississippi John Hiatt*G*. I have not heard it, but he has a song called Real Fine Love on one of his other albums. If the voice was kind of raspy, it's John Hiatt.
