30 Sep 00 - 11:26 AM (#308969) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: rose of kelvingrove From: Malcolm Douglas A 4/4 march apparantly written by David Knox; I haven't found a date. There is some staff notation here (made by ear, I think): The Rose of Kelvingrove So far as I can tell, there are no words set to it. Malcolm |

30 Sep 00 - 01:19 PM (#309031) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: rose of kelvingrove From: Barry T I agree with Malcolm... The Rose of Kelvin Grove is a recent tune written in the sixties or early seventies for the pipes and commonly played with massed pipes and drums and military bands. Like Amazing Grace and Highland Cathedral, it evokes huge emotion when played in the combined band setting. I've done a midi here. The composer, I believe, was a member of the Black Watch when he wrote the tune, but I'll try to confirm that.
It is my understanding, too, that there are no lyrics to the tune.
The other Kelvin Grove is indeed a song and has already been identified here. |
