01 Oct 00 - 03:20 AM (#309436) Subject: NATIONAL BUSKING DAY From: GUEST,Furry I mentioned this idea on my horribly misunderstood thread bashing robert johnson ( The title was the problem I meant it to be provacative)I was encouraged by a pair of responses from dwditty (short for ditty wa ditty the old bbq bob song right?)and of all people Van Halen's bass player Micheal Anthony ( just kiddin mike, sorry I listened to VH when I was 13, I apolagize again if you acctually are VH's bass player) Here's the idea NATIONAL BUSKING DAY the 1st sunny saturday in spring.EVERYONE TAKE TO THE STREETS WITH GUITARS, BANJOS, MANDOLINS, HARPS, and FIDDLES AND PLAY TRADITIONAL AND/OR ORIGINAL SONGS ( provided they don't sound like ozzy, britanny, or the sex pistols, I guess it will be Ok if mike plays JUMP!) SPREAD THE WORD!!!!!!!! |

01 Oct 00 - 05:27 PM (#309784) Subject: RE: NATIONAL BUSKING DAY From: dwditty Tiple? Whose got the tiple? 'Spaw? This is one of those things that could really blossom into something incredible. Imagine throngs of Mudcat-patch-wearing, Bill-Sales-buttoned folks in Oz, England, Wales, Nova Scotia, Scotland, Canada, Italy, Ireland, USA, Germany, South America, and wherever else we all hail from hitting the streets on the same day spreading the word of traditional music and the mudcat (Get those cards ready, Susan of DT). I think this is a great idea, Furry. And, yes, you correctly identified the source of my nom de mudcat. dw |
01 Oct 00 - 06:58 PM (#309839) Subject: RE: NATIONAL BUSKING DAY From: GUEST,Furry I should have called it INTERNATIONAL BUSKING DAY. My fault, I hereby change the name of the new holiday to INTERNATIONAL BUSKING DAY. Now all we need is some traditions (beside the music)like Christmas trees or Leaving a seat at the dinner table for Woody Guthrie or something like that. Any suggestions? |
01 Oct 00 - 07:13 PM (#309850) Subject: RE: NATIONAL BUSKING DAY From: sophocleese A sprig of last year's rosemary(that's for remembrance) tied to the wristband or the collar of what the busker wears for aid in remembering tunes and words. |
01 Oct 00 - 10:07 PM (#309962) Subject: RE: NATIONAL BUSKING DAY From: Sorcha And we're gonna do this on the Spring Solstice, and dress in clothes from our past lives, right?. Little Hawk will call the aliens to make crop circles in all the parks,we'll all greet each other with secret handshakes, and the password will be----Brass Toilet Seats on Icebergs! (hey, you all know I'm not bashing, OK?) Ooops, almost forgot the Morris dancers, dressed all in green-o. |
01 Oct 00 - 10:23 PM (#309974) Subject: RE: NATIONAL BUSKING DAY From: Rich(bodhránai gan ciall) This sounds like a great idea. And we can congregate at the busker's dream spot; multi-plex movie theatres where all the films start at roughly the same time. You play your butt off for about 40 minutes, fill the case with donations, and take a break for an hour or so. Repeat as necessary. Rich |
01 Oct 00 - 11:50 PM (#310013) Subject: RE: NATIONAL BUSKING DAY From: Little Hawk Hey ya hosers, make it May Day, it's too cold up here on the Spring Solstice, eh? It'll freeze the beer, eh? We wouldn't want that, now would we, eh? Okay, like, I gotta go stir up some back bacon and check to see if the maple syrup has arrived, eh? See ya, hosers! |
