Req: CD's shops in Chicago

Hi, I'm in Chicago now. I couldn't find a shop to buy some rare CD's. I'm interesting in Blues, and Following labels: Document, Yazoo e.t.c.

Tell me please where I can find it. Thanks.

I'd start at the Jazz Record Mart, 444 North Wabash. If they don't have it, they can get it or give you a reference to track it down.

The JRM was founded by Bob Koester, founder of Delmark Records, who was a well known collector and producer in the blues field. I haven't been there in many years but if it hasn't abandoned it's legacy, it should be a great place.

If you decide to go there, come back and bring me up to date on it's current status.

You could check the Old Town School's store (I think it's called Different Strummer) I don't know how likely you are to find some obscure stuff, or how expensive, but it's worth a shot.

Believe it or not, the Virgin Mega store on Michigan Avenue also has a lot of good stuff. There are also three or four good used music stores on Clark St. between Belmont and Diversey.

You could look for Championship Vinyl, at Milwaukee and Honore, but if you found it, it would mean that you've suddenly become a character in the movie High Fidelity with John Cusack. Your best bet is the Jazz Record Mart.

The Tower store on S Wabash has kept a lot of the style of the Rose Records store that used to be there. Rock & popular on the ground floor, Classical on the 2nd, Folk, Ethnic etc on the 3rd floor.
